Subject: Y-Design: Primarch Series, Perturabo

Welcome back to the Primarch Series, which is my effort to give all the primarchs rules for 40k in the same vein as Roboute Gulliman, Mortarion, and Magnus the Red! Last time we did Vulkan. This time, we go back to Chaos with Perturabo of the Iron Warriors. Perturabo is very different from his brothers in that, while many of them cared much about traditions, Perturabo was all about surpassing others, and he didn't care at all about traditions if they did not benefit him. While the other Daemon Primarchs are powered more by their daemonic essence, Perturabo has become a living daemonic machine. I imagine a model where his armour has just become overgrown with technology and weapons, and he stands similar to bulk to an Imperial Knight. Perturabo has a lot of weapons that care about shooting, and with his scientific mind, he has devised counter-systems for just about everything he could face, with his new Logos Quad Mortar having effective firing modes against almost any enemies out there. If no suitable enemies present themselves, or the situation demands it, he can also fire smoke launchers nearby friendly units to make them harder to hit, though given the power of Logos Quad Mortar, choosing not to use it for a turn to fire Smokes is a serious consideration to take. Lastly, unlike many of the other Chaos Primarchs, Perturabo organizes and sharpens his forces, so that they fight better when with him. Using the Signum Daemonicum, a daemonically empowered Signum, Perturabo can improve the attacks of his Iron Warriors further. While Perturabo doesn't have any hatred against Daemons, I was struggling to showcase how he's daemonically empowered, so making this Signum (previously a Cognis Signum) into something Daemonic begged that the daemon care more about targeting something. Another option would be to improve the attacks against Aeldari. I don't know. Take a lot of consideration on his special rules here, because they allow him to do a lot of weird things. Unlike a Knight, he can be tarpitted, but unlike a Knight as well, he can shoot out of it thanks to The Logos.

Weapons:
Olympia-Pattern Autocannon - Assault 4 - 48" - S7 - AP -2 - Damage 2
Logos Flamer System - Pistol 2D6 - 10" - S5 - AP -1
Logos Quad Mortar (Inferno Shells) - Heavy 4D6 - 36" - S6 - AP-1 - Damage 1 - You may reroll any number of dice used to determine the number of shots against targets with 10 or more models in the unit. You do not need line of sight to target a unit with this weapon.
Logos Quad Mortar (Melta Shells) - Heavy 4- 36" - S8 - AP-3 - Damage D6 - You may reroll the damage roll for this weapon when targeting Vehicles or Buildings. You do not need line of sight to target a unit with this weapon.
Fleshmetal Talons and Hooks - melee - user - AP-2 - Damage 1 - When making attacks with this weapon, Perturabo makes one additional attack for each enemy unit within 1" of him.
Wargear:
Fleshmetal Heretech: Perturabo has a 4+ Invulnerable save. This save improves to a 3+ Invulnerable save against weapons with a damage profile of D6.
The Logos: Perturabo's Movement cannot be modified, and hit rolls made by Perturabo cannot be modified. Furthermore, the reams of data provided through the Logos to friendly <Iron Warriors> allows them to target and shoot weapons at units locked in combat with Perturabo as though they were not locked in combat with him.
Signum Daemonicum: At the beginning of your shooting and combat phases, choose a friendly <Iron Warrior> within 12" of Perturabo. That unit receives +1 to hit rolls until the end of the phase. They receive an additional +1 bonus against attacks that target Psykers.
Logos Quad Mortar Smoke Shells: Instead of firing his Logos Quad Mortar, Perturabo may fire up to four Smoke Shells at friendly units within 36" of him. If you do so, ranged attacks that target those units suffer a -1 modifier to hit rolls until your next turn. This bonus does not combine with the bonus granted by Smoke Launchers.
Special Rules:
Combat Teleporters - During deployment, you can set up Perturabo and up to one friendly <Iron Warriors> unit plotting instead of placing him on the battlefield. At the end of any of your Movement phases, he and that unit may teleport into battle - set them up anywhere that is more than 9" away from any enemy models, and within 3" of each other.
Primarch of the IVth: Friendly <Iron Warriors> within 12" of Perturabo may reroll failed hit rolls of 1, and may reroll failed wound rolls against Vehicles.
The Breaker of Olympia: If Perturabo did not move in the preceding Movement Phase, he may fire his weapons twice, so long as the second set of attacks are all made against Vehicles or Buildings. He may not use the Logos Quad Mortar Smoke Shells wargear during this second set of attacks.

The fact you didn't give him a hammer is just silly.

The hammer was taken from him in the fluff, from what I read. I was all ready to give him a hammer too!
EDIT: The Iron Hands were able to get it back, and apparently the Blood Ravens now have it, according to Lexicanum http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Forgebreaker

He is a beastttt.
That's actually a really cool set of rules (the smoke does seem a little ridiculous though, especially as he just fires it anyway if standing still)
This is a really cool series man!

This is a really cool series man!
It mostly prevents you from shooting smokes twice a turn. Glad you're enjoying the series! Once I'm done, I'm going to put them all into a single post, plus I will revise them with some of the great suggestions everyone has made. Also, side note to folks about the hammer - would you consider a video game official cannon? I'd say yes, hence why he doesn't have a hammer, but if most people say no and people have a good idea for a hammer, I'd definitely entertain it.
Next up: Rogal Dorn.
