hope I'm in the right forum to ask, if not, please let me know

I'm looking for something that could be used as base for "walking sentry guns", ideally four-legged, to be used for Astra Militarum Heavy Weapon teams. So It should be something small enough to look fitting, not like a mini-tank, more like a bigger walking tripod. Even if it's just the legs, as I think the body could be converted from something else or maybe even just the weapons.

Does anyone know a) a tutorial to convert or even scratchbuild something like this or b) any GW or third party models that might be fitting? Seen something similar from Ramshackle games which is a little bit too big and there is some walker turret from Puppetswar which looks promising, but I would prefer something four-legged. As I don't play and just convert and paint, it could be anything from toys to other manufacturers, as long as it feels not too off when placed next to Guard units.

How about the ad mech kataphrons with a weapon swap.

You might be able to still pick up acoupke of mobile turrets from Atenocitis. The 15mm scale ones would make good infantry weapon carriers.

Were you looking for something to replace the team entirely (so something that would fit on a 60mm base as a single model representing the team) or something just to replace the heavy weapon?

If the latter, then the Contractor Drones from Maelstrom's Edge would fit the bill:

Many thanks for the ideas so far, both the Contractor drones and Mobile turrets are exactly what I was looking for. The Kataphrons could be used for a backup plan, but I would prefer something "walking".

@insaniak: Something to replace the heavy weapons, yes. Do you know if the Epirian Spider Drones are roughly the same size? Can't really tell from the images on the site, but having 4 instead of 1 for roughly the same price would be great.


Anyone has any other ideas that might be a little bit less expensive?

I noticed that Beyond Gates of Antares game from warlorgames have very nice tripod walkers in Ghar faction, that can serve your purposes very well. Check out their site - there is really nice choice of different kind of walkers.
