Hey, all! I've been playing D&D since 2nd Edition and have since gotten into other kinds of RPGs. However, I have for many a year been able to merely observe wargaming from afar, as I simply didn't have the money to invest in it.

Now that I've gotten my first Warhammer 40k box set as a gift, I have begun my journey into the genre, hoping to one day join the tables of more experienced souls at the gaming shop half an hour's drive from my little mountain town. Until then, I'll be cruising these boards from time to time, learning what I may.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Thanks, folks! I'm already getting a lot of (confusing but helpful) assistance from the gamers on a rules issue I had coming in the door. ^_^

-Which box set did you get?
-Any idea what army you want to play?

My local gamers have been helpful in helping provide me small 500 point armies out of their own models to use against them to learn with; with a bit of pre-planning, or some assistance from your FLGS owner, you might find some assistance there too. My first trip to my FLGS a month or three ago, I wandered around watching, made some friends, got some contact information, and got a few 500 point games in where they were kind enough to build an army out of the models they had, then let me use it against them - which doubles in having someone who knows how to use it help me learn how to play it too.
