As the title suggests I'm wondering if a Custodi can be trained in the same fashion as Tech-Marines and what that would be like.

Is there anything in the lore saying they cant learn the ways of Mars?

Their main responsibility is to safeguard the palace and all the archeotech within, specifically the golden throne. So it would make sense that a few of them have an understanding of the treasures they keep safe.

Lot's of cool name opportunities. Master of the Vaults, Arch Automata, etc.

I feel like they wouldn’t need to be trained on mars since they would have access to all the forgotten lore the Emps kept hidden away within his palace.

“Victory is not an abstract concept, it is the equation that sits at the heart of strategy. Victory is the will to expend lives and munitions in attack, overmatching the defenders’reserves of manpower and ordnance. As long as my Iron Warriors are willing to pay any price in pursuit of victory, we shall never be defeated.” - The Primarch Perturabo, Master of the Iron Warriors

This would make sense, if anything, they could teach the mechanicus a thing or two. If BigE wished it, but he doesn't.

I'd expect a "Custodian Techmarine" to be trained by/use tech from the Terran technocrat caste that builds all the bits of their equipment that the Emperor never let Mars have access to. I saw mention of Terran robots in the preview presentation for Horus Heresy book 9, so we might get more models/lore for details on the subject sometime next year.
