I can't break away from the idea of making a skeletonized army but the problem is that there aren't any such hands holding lasguns. Any ideas on how I can make existing arm configurations look more skeletal in nature?

You're probably going to have to get a lot of the loose lasguns that aren't already being held. I'm not certain which IG kits contained them as extras, but I had a stack for a while that were simply the guns with no hands involved.

The old Catachan infantry squad is best- has 8-10 (can't remember exactly) loose MkIV lascarbines per 10 guardsmen. Cadian IS only has two, and the Cadian heavy weapons team has one loose lasgun per team- so three in a squad (both Cadian kits with M36 Kantrael pattern lasguns). The Catachan command squad and the old vehicle upgrade sprue both have a single loose Voss pattern lasgun.

Depends on what you want your skeleton troopers to be armed with

My issue comes more with getting them to fit the weapon properly and in a manner that doesn't look wildly unrealistic

Skeletons can wear gloves as well. Paint the hands mostly black with the occasional finger of part of finger in white bone as if a finger joint is poking through a raggedy glove.

Also it's pretty easy to trim the supporting hands off lasguns if you want to replace with something else.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

That's the stuff, thanks.
Mine were gifted because I play metal and just needed some base decor.

That's a good idea thanks!
