I’m playing two games against a friend tomorrow, we each have a 960p and 1040p list for each.

List 1

Barak Zilfin (No Trading With Some People)

Aether Khemist : Earbuster, Aethersight Loupe

Frigate

2x10 Arkanauts, 3 Light Skyhooks, 3 Volley Guns

10 Thunderers, 2 Cannons

3 Endrinriggers, Saws

List 2

Barak Zilfin (No Trading)

Admiral: Hammer of A. Might, Rune, Stickler for the Code

Same as above with 3 more Riggers

I’ve only ever played against Clan Skyre, in the first iteration of AoS, two years ago lol. I’m not at all familiar with what his army wants to do. Is he going to want to close distance with me? Is he more choppy than shooty? Shall I take Aetherspheric Endrins and drop on him? Or just use there’s only a wind if you look for it to get into position? I gave the game up initially because it seems the KO are so weak but I’m giving it another shot because I love the models and the game has grown at my shop since 2017. Help!

I feel horrible when I have to say this, but you're almost certainly screwed. Kharadron are already an underdog, Nighthaunt is potentially their worst matchup (they ignore all rend army wide) and FEC are extremely overpowered with their new battletome.

Anyways...

Avoid the earburster since the enemy will all be bravery 10. If you have an Ironclad I would run that instead of a frigate. Either way take the Last Word as your endrinwork.

Both armies will want to get into melee with you, Nighthaunt can deep strike stuff in like Stormcast does (up to half the army comes in from reserves at the end of the movement phase more than 9" away from the enemy) and if they roll a 10+ on the charge get a free round of melee immediately (in addition to the combat phase). FEC are fast and will bring in extra units wholly within 6" of the board edge, more than 9" from the enemy. FEC use their Courtier heroes to bring back slain models into their units so you need to snipe them. Almost all of their heroes heal as well, so be sure to finish them off.

The nice thing about Zilfin here is that all of Nighthaunt fly and half the FEC army flies as well, so you will get plentiful re-rolls.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Oh boy....

You really think I can afford an Ironclad at 1000p? I think I’d be short on firepower. I’m thinking Skywardens, Navigator, Thunderers with rifles only and sticking to the aetherspheric carbine thing that has 6 shots for the arkanauts.

The nice thing is at 1000 points an Ironclad is pretty hard to put down, but a frigate dies pretty easily even at low values because of its 5+

Played two GREAT games and had so much fun. The first game we played Border War in the Realm of Death (LOL) and the only reason why it was close was because I took him by surprise with There’s Always Wind If You Look for it and stole his home objective. We called it after we decided he would table me by the end of 5 while scoring all 5 objectives; Night Haunt 24 - KO 19.

The second game was probably the hardest mission for me. I forget what it’s called but there are two objectives 9” in and starting at the end of T3 a major victory ends the game if either player controls both objectives. We played in the Realm of Shadow which would prove key. He changed armies and played a brutal Legion if Nagash list. He deployed his entire army; I deployed only one unit of Arkanauts by my home objective. I held my Frigate in reserve with Aetheric Endrins until bottom of 3. I used my extra footnote to reroll my charge (clutch roll both to get that footnote and to make it). My 6 Khemist-buffed Endrinriggers made the charge naturally, my arkanauts made it with the re-roll. I purposefully didn’t shoot him in order to give myself the best chance to get the charge. I annihilated his 19-strong skeleton squad and took his objective . Then my rookie mistake killed me. I planned to use the unique stratagem to the realm of shadow to teleport my Thunderers onto my objective but they had to be wholly within 6” of the edge and I was 1/4” short and he wouldn’t give it to me. Still I had a chance to do it with a double turn; which I didn’t get. But I should have won and would have without that mistake. Awesome game.

I am excited to be back in; and considering how much better Death is compared to KO, I’m proud of how I general’d. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like you really did a great job on tactics, good work! FYI you don't have to roll for the footnote, you can just pick it.

Thanks man; my opponent was actually saying that and I was like no, it says roll. But I bet it’s in one of the errata right? See! GW?! This is why we need a new book! I would pay $40 for literally all the same fluff, art, missions etc if they just rework our darn boats.

Do you mean Stickler for the Code? That is just saying IF you choose to roll and get a duplicate you have to re-roll; it is clarifying that you cannot get around the restriction by getting rolling.
