Reading that makes me lament the loss of Forsaken. They weren't particularly great in a regiment, but I bet all those mutation parts would be fun to have in a skirmish game.

I thought it was called Path to Glory back then as well. Could be wrong, though. As you say, it's been a long time.

Yeah, AoS Path to Glory is a remake of WHFB Path to Glory. Same idea.

Wasn't there a game before about building up a Chaos warband in the northern wastes where you started out with a few humble marauders and an aspiring champion. You gathered warriors and got mutations along the course of a campaign.
That's what I reckon this Warcry thing will be like. Honestly I think the addition of the other grand alliances would just water down that cool narrative, like how GW shoehorns every faction into the modern 40k campaigns

Path to Glory?

That one was also called Path to Glory

I think the original chaos warrior aesthetic lives on with the servants of the ever chosen. I doubt we will see much of that in Warcry, apart from some design cues here and there. These aren’t chaos warriors, per se, but barbarian tribes aspiring to that tier of recognition.

They are essentially a diversity of marauders, which is something I think a lot of people have wanted to see for a long time.

Do we have any idea when Warcry is slotted for release? Any educated guesses?

Not soon enough lol! I would hazard a guess that it will probably release shortly after Warhammerfest in May, probably first 2 weeks of June?

Not to be all negative, but the Iron Golem video ends with "Summer 2019", so unless GW has a different definition of summer than me, I expect Warcry to be this year's big July release.

Given that the first day of summer is 21 June you’re probably right. Maybe preorder end of June, release in July? Probably just me being hopelessly optimistic lol

That sounds about right. The GHB usually comes out around June, so I could see this being an immediate follow-up to that.

2000 Khorne Bloodbound (Skullfiend Tribe- Aqshy)
1000 Tzeentch Arcanites (Pyrofane Cult - Hysh) in progress

Aw snap.

I was so focused on the mini's and terrain I didn't bother with reading.

I caught it the first time around, but I did actually go back and watch it again just to be sure. I think GW's tries to distract us with those shinies so we don't read the fine print.

I'd rather have Warcry sooner than later myself, and I would have hoped for a May release. But I guess GW has lots of other big stuff coming and maybe we'll soon get Slaanesh instead. That would tide me over.

I just want more news about the warbands. I am really eager for this sort of stuff, It's just the kick in the arse I need to start a small chaos pirates force!

Jonesing for some more info on Warcry. Do we think we won’t hear about it again until Warhammerfest? Or do we think we will get some tidbits on WHC before that?

Given what we have so far I suspect that the remaining warbands and further detail on Warcry will be the big thing at Warhammer Fest on the AoS side (with the shiny big Apocalypse models GW wants to sell us being the big 40k thing to be revealed*). I'm not getting the impression that Warcry has gotten enough attention at shows yet simply because half of the Chaos bands are an unknown and we only have not entirely unambiguous icons for the non-Chaos factions so far. It's also a while off, so I don't reckon GW is in a hurry to tell us more.

I think Forbidden Power and Slaanesh are ready for Warhammer Community articles at this point. I'm guessing we'll see those before the end of May. Well, Slaanesh anyway. Maybe Forbidden Power will take longer and get released alongside this year's General's Handbook.

*Edit: Technically I should say "highlighted" and presented in great detail. It would be weird if we didn't see entirely new stuff that's a little further down the line teased for the first time as well.

I think slaanesh will come sooner or later based on if they have mortals and/or beastmen to go with the release. (I certainly hope so!!) if they do I could easily see forbidden power --> warcry--> slaanesh, but then I guess what GWs plans are for and extended darkoath release will also impact when warcry gets released.

Would love to use Shadespire Iron Skull Boyz in Warcry. I'm hoping Warcry will be Age of Sigmar's answer to Killteam.

Since we were talking about what Warhammer Fest might bring, there's this point in the recently released seminar schedule:

11am: ’Eavy Metal – Warcry

Chris Innes and Natalie Slinn discuss the gangs of the new game Warcry and how they came up with a distinct colour scheme to identify each faction.

I guess there's room for interpretation but going off of that I expect we will indeed get to see all warbands at Warhammer Fest.

I hope that turns out to be the case. It would be nice to have all the warbands previewed so that we have comparisons out of the gate and decide which we are most excited about.

I think this Saturday the second warband in the Warcry boxed set will be revealed, ahead of the big reveal at Warhammerfest.

A bit boring, but quite possible. I hope we get something good, not the least because an event in such close proximity to Warhammer Fest bears the risk of being underwhelming because GW saves the good stuff for the big home event. Would be a shame for the attendees.

Looks like we have the boss, 2 champions, the beast master, the hunter, three generic "minions" and the beast/monster. Sounds familiar ? A bit like the way Mordheim band lists work ? Given Bottle's inspiration with Hinterlands and the fact that Warcry is kinda his baby, it wouldn't surprise me if warcry lists are working kinda similar.

Now if we could have a hint about the rules and, most important, the campaign system, it would be nice.

There is a pic(probably taken discretely at the Q+A) floating around of what could be the contents of the starter box. 2 Warbands, some Furies and at least one raptor thing, and a boatload of terrain. Terrain includes a little watchtower mounted on the head of a large Sigmar statue, some barricades, different versions or additions to the azyrite ruins that are available now with ramshackle steps and floors, all on top of a themed battlemat.

None of which is entirely new, most of the above we saw in individual photo's, but its the first I've seen that puts it all together in one panoramic shot.

Workblocked at the moment, but its up on the Warcry FB page. And going off of past WHC conduct, we'll probably get a legit reveal very soon.

I count a little less than 20 warband figures, plus critters.

The initial video teaser contained a lot of terrain, and it looks like most of it will be in the box. It's not a big surprise given the size of the box, compared to the KT one.
I'm very hyped to see that many ladders (which seem to be modular), especially since the game will probably promote melee over shooting.
