Greetings fellow painters!

In order to show the progress of my beginning Ork army (and honestly mainly to just keep my motivation going) I thought I'd create a Blog of my own.
Here I will mainly focus on my soon-ish to be Ork army. Sadly I don't have that much time to paint so don't expect daily updates, but I'll try to post at least once a week.

So, without further ado....pictures:

Test-model to test skin tone etc. Not sure on the base.

First three snakebites. I'll try to mix and match the regular 40k Ork kit with the Savage orruks from AoS to create some kind of ferral techno scavengers.

Please excuse the low qualtiy pictures. I still need to set up a better photo-area, but it will get better, I promise!

Minor Update:

I finished assembling 10 Snakebites and gave them a zenital foundation. I also started applying the basecolour to the skin.

It looks worse in person , but I guess for the basecoat it is fine. I never worked with this zenital foundation technique. I hope I don't cover up too much with the following highlights etc.
I hope you like it!

PS: I promised better photos, I hope those are ok-ish

Wonderful earthy skintone! And those AoS bits are great, especially fitting for Snakebites.

A couple of thoughts, though: the ork who's waving around the shoota with the ammo belt looks a bit unnatural as the belt is "stiff", pointing in the air. Another shoota would work better. Also, I was thinking about your paint scheme. Right now you've got great muted tones (which is very Snakebite-y), but a large horde might end up looking like a brown blob. Maybe lean into the Deathskulls a bit more, and make the blue more vibrant?

Another update! One Snake-Boy is almost finished. Only the metal and obviously the base are still WIP, the rest is done!

Hope you like it!

Do you guys have any idea for good bodypaintings?

Yeah, I used a leftover shoota :( But I guess you're right, maybe I'll clip of the belt. Ammo is gone so he uses it to punch in some faces

About the brown blob topic: You're right here as well! I'm still deciding which form of bodypainting I will do to add some colour. Do you have any suggestions?

They are some really neat orks! For the body paint, i imagine a sort of light blue might look really good on them and contrast well with the brown.

You could have fun with the bases, maybe change up the colors there to break things up too.

Keep it up no matter what though, they are great!

I did a Deathskull army back in my early teens (see below if interested), and did fairly simple warpaints for the orks. Stripes, dags (triangle designs) or face halves in blue. As amazingturtles said, I'd go with some vibrant light blue, but make sure to give it dark outlines so it doesn't blend into the green. Of course, since you also have the Snakebite theme, some tribal designs would work nicely. You could do either sharp, "tattoo-like" designs, or try to make them look like the paint is smeared on by hand.

Spoiler:

Another Update! Finished my first Snakebite, I hope you guys like him

I settled for white and red-ish bodypaintings, since I figures they'd use the soil and water to create the colours.

So, hit me....tell me what you think!

The thing the one is chewing on? Of course it is a bone! The little naked behinds make this thread NSFW enough

Really like the skin tone you've gone with for these guys, the AoS models really make effective Snakebites!

Only guns, bases and minor details need to be finished

I like the feral bits - and the yellowish skin works really well with the red bases. I'm not usually a fan of non green orks, but those are sweet!

Some great looking Orkses you have there. They have a really different and nice skin tone that really suits the savage Ork scheme. Consider me subbed!

Those are sublime! The warpaint looks great, and the more vibrant red bases contrast with the models really nicely. The dark (green?) bits also give some contrast and help to break up the otherwise muted scheme. Top job!

Thank you all! I hope this time I can keep myself motivated. I often switch projects right in the middle of things. And in the last days some deathskull ideas started stealing themselves into my head (see what I did there). I'll try to stay on my snakebitez for some more Boyz

Thank you! I'm glad you like them! Yes it is some dark camo green

Soooo, got almost no painting done the last weeks only a minor update.

I only got the first steps of the skin done and applied the texture on the base (still wet on the image), but I hope I'll manage to get some more painting done the next few days.

I hope you like them so far. And how about you? How many hours per week do you spend on the hobby?

Looking good so far in the new boyz. I too find it hard to find time for the hobby. I normally manage 1 or 2 sessions of about 2-4 hours per week. That generally allows me to progress 1 or 2 steps on whichever batch I’m painting. Most batches seem to take about a month to complete which is very slow! Recently I’ve been finishing models that I started as a juve 20-25 years ago, so my production rate is probably averaged out at 1 miniature per year!

Thank you! I get like one Session per week Max. Those Session are 1-2 hours only, but luckily Im a quick painter, so at least I get some progress done in those short episodes

PS: we of similar names need to stick together
