Hello All,

Here is my latest work. Imperial Fists Space Marine Captain Lysander. This is the older metal version of the model. I pinned his arms to the torso and pinned the model to the base. The model is clear coated with Testors Dullcoat spray.
The model was primed black and three different yellow colors were used to build up the layers. I always prefer to prime models black and work up from there. The model is currently up for auction on eBay if anybody is interested in it.

Here is the link : https://www.ebay.com/sch/dman89/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=50&_sop=1

Comments and criticisms are always welcome.

Thank you for looking.
D.

The most impressive thing about this is that you built up from black. I would never have guessed if you hadn't told me. The yellow is smooth and bright. It looks like something from White Dwarf to be quite honest. If you told me this was the one from the company collection I'd believe you.

The blending on the hammer and the subtle highlights on the cloak at excellent btw as well, and I love what you've done with the base.

First, Thank you very much for the compliments they are appreciated.

Second, originally I had tried to prime it yellow with an Army painter spray. That did not work out well at all. I worked on it for a full day trying to get the brush on yellows to work over that yellow primer. But ,no good. I through it in a bowl of Simple Green for 24 hours to strip away the mess I had made. Then I cleaned the model thoroughly and went back to painting as I know how, using a black spray primer as the base. After that it was just building up the layers of brush on yellows. Working it up to a final white highlight. Yellow is really a pain to work with. This will probably be my last Lysander model and I have no plans on working on any more Imperial Fists any time soon ( if ever).

As someone with an Imperial Fist painter very nice model. I also tried Army painter yellow primer with not so hot results. Then I painted 1 dreadnaught layer by layer.
14 layers later I had a yellow dreadnaught...after which I broke down and bought an airbrush to solve my painting woe's. Honestly after having a airbrush I wouldn't paint a army without one.
There is simply so much you can do with it, with some practice and trial and error. But once past the learning curve you can do things that take hours with a brush in minutes.
