Hi Dakkanauts. I am looking around to expand my Astra Militarum and wanted Scions as next and found nice miniatures for a good Price. My question are:

Could the next minis count as Scions? And which ones do you think are the more similar ones to the Scions?

Normaly I only buy GW stuff but Scions cost almost double as this alternative versions ( online stores).

Most people just buy SC Militarum Tempestus, as the Scions box is stupid expensive for 5 dudes.

But if you're going 3rd party, the Pig Iron Production stuff is fine. There's a ton of 3rd party manufacturers out there making good minis.

Pig Iron System Troopers are fine. Although they are not as detailed as GW scions miniatures, they are however much faster to paint.
The only problem you will face is representing the sergeant correctly. Pig Iron do offer a pack of four sergeants, (system trooper squad leaders) but they need some rework.
Problem is they have the same guns as the regular troopers, and what you need are pistols.
So you will need some cutting, lengthy filing and gluing SM plasma pistols (the only option viable competitively).

I would check out anvil industries minitures, they are literally build a guard work shop at good pricea

Especially for scions, Dreamforges Eisenkern line works quite good.

The expensive option is to use solar auxilia from forge world

I am now more confused. On wayled the Scions are not so expensive. I now the SC is a good value, but recently I got the Astra SC so I have one Commissar and the Taurox is not in my near future game options.

There's actually a thread in News and Rumors for Dreamforged. Check for user NoseGoblin. Short version: he didn't sell enough to keep re-ordering more from the manufacturer, and his follow on kick starter to make a hover stug where the manufacturer wasn't subsidizing the costs of the molds to break into the business fell short of funding, so he's mostly just making stuff (IIRC, just his vehicles) in resin.

Yes that's correct, Mark finally replied to my email today about this:

"Those kits are currently out of production. We would like to bring them back but the tools will need to be re-cut.

Is the Scion battleforce still around? Those were a pretty good discount for like 3 squads and Valk. I still haven't gotten around to assembling mine, I think I got two of those boxes just gathering dust.

Bottom of page 2 has some art previews of their new line. Looks like a good contender.

The new enforcers for necromunda could also make good scions if its just a non medieval armour you want, but weapon swaps would be necessary

The new necromunda enforcers look really tall. Like space marine tall. I think almost all the necromunda models have a lot of scale creep going on compared to the scions, mechancius skitarii and genestealer cult neophytes.

I found Anvil Industries to be a bit small and slight. Especially the details in the weapons. After getting my small order of anvil parts I scrapped my plans of making scions from their offerings. Their stuff looks great and the castings were great, but they're more on the smaller side of the cadians and their weapons were very small and thin.

They do look tall, but I thought it would help them stand out as a bit more than the average guard. Depends how you like your soldiers i suppose!
