Perturbed Blood Angel Tactical Marine
|
The Black Legion or the Red Corsairs or even the World Eaters would seem to have a way of regaining casualties, namely recruitment of renegade Marines. But the Thousand Sons are mostly dust golems with very distinctive armor. Is there a finite and dwindling number of Thousand Sons, or do they have ways of replacing casualties?

I always assumed that when T-sons are gone they're gone for good.

Either they transfer the souls to new armour or they just repair the armour after the fact.
It never made sense to me that you could get non-Thousand Son Rubric marines.

They are the CSM version of necrons.

You see, when a male suit of space dust loves a female suit of space dust, they make little baby suits of space dust. Ahhhh, the old "the Tau and the Kroot" conversation.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Not quite shire but Ragnar kills the same thiusand son champion twice or even 3 times.
There is some way to makw them return.
I'm trmepted to side with downloading the soul into new armour due to chaos, psykers and maybe reanonating dead units at timws if suffixantly powerful..

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |

The answer is literally in my quote above, taken from the codex.

Thanks, sorry was struggling to read it at first on a tiny phone screen.
That makes sense, thry are kinda very much like the adaptus mechanics bots that reqyure a controller and herder to keep them on track.

The Ahriman novels also mention the Rubrics' armor slowly magically repairing themselves as long as they weren't "mortally" damaged.

Fairly accurate, actually. The first time Ahriman encounters Rubrics after his exiling, he wrests control of them in a psychic duel. They're essentially extensions of the controller's will and will just stand around waiting for someone else to take over if their master is killed.
It's kind of creepy actually, because the Sorcerors recognize the Marine they used to be. Ahriman in the narrative refers to them individually as "the one who was <name pre-Rubric>".

That is rather creepy... And sad in own way.
Also a reminder how the spell destroyed the legion whom had before there fall one of the largest complipations of information, learning and psychic skills to shatter.
