Imperial Fists fortify.
Iron Warriors siege.
Which would you rather be, the wall or the hammer?

While, as a templars player, I've got a certain fondness for the fists, they are a little 1-dimensional. We build castles, we wear yellow, we beef with the Iron Warriors.
Iron Warriors are a lot more fun, in my opinion. They've got the freaky-deaky mechanical augmentations of the iron hands, without being sad all the time, and they build cool castles or blow them up, so already they've got the gimmicks of both the Iron Hands and the Imperial fists going for them (and I think it matches pretty nicely), but on top of that, they make crazy robo-daemons, nightmarish planet factories (full of crazy robo-daemons!) and they're proper evil. AND they have beef with Imperial fists. And they're bitter about being jilted by the emperor for not getting to build his mega fortress on Terra.
I think this makes them easily one of the more interesting chaos marine factions, both in terms of fluff, influencing playstyle and conversion potential.
Imperial fists are cool, tho.

I like both chapters a lot in their own ways.
The Imperial Fists encapsulate a lot of the iconic poster boy look without actually being the literal poster boys and have some unique flair of their own in the siegecraft emphasis and stuff like bone scribing but otherwise remaining a relatively stellar example of a strongly codex adherent chapter. Painting that much yellow sucks hardcore however.
The Iron Warriors are fun because they just get to play a lot of classic bad guy tropes dialed up to 11 and can have their own motivations and goals. They get to play mad scientist, evil genius, treadhead, and big gun tropes galore, but without coming off as too silly the way some of the marine factions can get, and have some really great dark fluff. It's also hard to think of something much more "heavy metal" than an Iron Warrior. More importantly, they're also turbo easy to paint

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.
New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts. |

Why dont you just make 10 the highest number?
I vote Iron Warriors for no particular reason, but they are chaos and i know more about chaos so yeah. And they look great.

The Iron Warriors care about your personal safety and ensuring that your workplace remains accident free. When was the last time you saw an Imperial Fist vehicle with its dangerously hot/moving/soul rending/ankle height bits appropriately demarcated? Unsigned workplace hazards are the real villains here.

I chose Iron Warriors, but not the Chaos kind. The group that "defected" during the Heresy and stayed loyal, later becoming the Silver Skulls Chapter (allegedly Successors of UltraMarines, but we know better)

In the novel, storm of iron, the iron warriors used Chosen to infiltrate and berzerkers as vanguard assault. They used captured infantry load them into rhinos and send them forward as fodder to test enemy defense lines.

I've always wanted to do a unit of Iron Warriors Khorne Berzerkers in head-to-toe hazard stripes. Because Khorne Berzerkers are pretty dangerous.

I like the Iron Warriors because out of the Chaos Legions they're one of the least Chaos-y. They aren't completely batgak insane, but are pursuing personal goals of glory and territory instead of being completely subsumed by the Chaos Gods. They still have that classic Chaos aesthetic of bio-organic stuff, but they're not on the level of mental degeneration as a Khorne Berserker. There's an identifiable motive swimming around in their brains that can be relatable and allow them to be a 'protagonist' in a story such as Siege of Castellax. Imperial Fists are alright, but until lately not much has really been done with them. It's like after the FIrst Founding Sigismund got the house, kids, and all of the character and charisma of the Legion.

Head to toe hazard stripes would work as dazzle camouflage. Break up the silhouette, make them hard to identify, count or pick out individuals.
Iron Warriors and Imperial fists are both my second choice legions. I’m an Ultramarine at heart, but the fists come second. Of course, part of that is their successors, the Crimson Fists and the Black Templar. If I fall to chaos, it’s going to be for the blood and brass of a Knorne heavy berserker army. But a close second is the rolling mechanical death trap that is the Iron Warriors.
I voted for the ‘Fists. But there is a lot of loyalist brotherhood there pushing the button.

In general the imperial fists, but I painted a few Imperial fists once... never again. Yellow sucks. Stripped them and made them into Ultramarines.
So Iron Warriors. Def.

Indeed. I'll also add that on a personal note, I'd much rather paint an entirely Yellow model than a onel that has SOME Yellow on an otherwise darker model. It's actually easier because you can spray/base a light color (either grey or white), and wash the whole model (even easier no with Contrast). Then maybe drybrush some lighter highlights it the Yellow wash was too dark Iron Warriors, otoh, tend to look best when primed a dark color and dry brushed metal. Those dang hazard stripes are far more of a pain ( IMO) than painting an Imperial Fist -

Hmmm...I’m a Daemon player so...let’s go with the guys who spawned a chapter that drives around space on righteous crusades, gave the finger to Pappy-Girlyman, and froths at the mouth while charging headlong at anyone who has even THOUGHT about writing Harry Potter fan-fiction, while simultaneously worshipping Monty Python. Yup, Imperial Fists all the way, because they gave birth to one helluva murder-baby chapter.
Do note, they don’t actually murder babies unless said babies are absolutely filled with heresy.

Iron Warriors are awesome savages, like demented construction/demolition teams. I can't wait to see a canon image of DP Perturabo. Hopefully, he's some perfect combination of super-powered cybernetics and Chaos-forged daemonic monstrousness.

Probably would be an upscaled Obliterator. May have even ascended to Daemonhood via the technovirus?
|
Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you. |

I gotta go with Iron Warriors. They're my favorite legion hands down.
I still do like Imperial Fists and I'd like to paint up my SM as them, but I absolutely hate painting yellow.
