So i got some one with no experience in this hobby to get mehpiston red and ultramarine blue. For some reason they gave them contrast for the blue, and base for the red. Why would they think i want there useless contrast junk?, I guess there having a hard time selling so they chucked that in instead of base.

Any way my question is, can i still use this junk like you do regular paint?, or is it better taking it back.

I never liked the idea of contrast paints, it to me is the most ridiculous thing ever, and i some how it has made its way to me because who knows why.

Edit - What does Ultramarine blue not come in base or some thing?

Thank you very much.

Why don't you try it first instead of calling it junk? There's nothing wrong with contrast, especially for a beginner to get their bases down fast and go from there. Start with a light undercoat and go wild (in moderation).

Ultramarine blue is the name for the contrast paint, Macragge Blue is the base paint.

Yeah it sounds like you've chosen the wrong paint dude. And I second TH, don't knock it before you try it. If you don't want to use it as advised by GW, that's cool. You can thin it down and use it like a glaze, or try putting it over a blue base like an ink. You may find it's a useful tool to have, or that it improves your ability to do things. I've bought a couple of the Contrast paints and am trying to steadily try out different things with them. If you don't like them, sell them or give them away
..

Also, the contrast paints are selling faster than crack cocaine over here... So I don't think they're having problems shifting them.

Not an idiot at all, a lot of people don't see any difference between contrast and inks.

Give it a try, follow some of the GW tutorials online and make your own judgement once you try it out.
