Love the variety in those rebel scum. Where did you get the Bad Batch files? I know Skullforge do a set, but it has Crosshair rather than Echo.

It's from Dark Fire Designs' Patreon, same as the other clones. The rebels are from Madox.

Nice work. Is he typically weathered in the cartoon? I stopped watching in the first season. Ashokha was just too annoying early on.

Mostly all of the clones are tipically weathered unless they're shinies, hence the nickname.
As to the series, it has really high ups and really low downs, but on the whole I think it's quite worth a watch.

I've heard the same but it's a big time investment. I tend to binge watch addictively.
And, yeah, I hear she becomes a very interesting nuanced character later on. I just don't know how long the "sky guy" annoying preteen sidekick phase lasts.

Oh, yeah, snips turns out great, and she has multiple really good storylines.
She also helps a lot in shaping Anakin's character and turns him into a really nuanced and interesting man in turn. The Clone Wars cartoon probably does more for Anakin than for any other character.

I really love Clone Wars, the cartoon but also the era in Star Wars. Such a rich universe with many heroes (including many jedi), many villains (including many sith) and plenty of side players, set against all the military maneuvers. Distinctly opposed, for me anyway, to the more narrow storytelling of New Hope onwards, where we have our handful of Capital-H Heroes and 1-2 Capital-V Villains swirling dramatically around each other. But anyway, I really came here to compliment your Legion stuff, always cool to see another batch come off the printer and travel through the painter

Thank you . I'm pretty happy with them myself, seeing as every squad (but the shinies, because clean bright colors are the hell) took only one paint session.
Well, this weekend I decided to make good of the money I'm pouring on Madox's Patreon
I started with a whole lot of Imperial Spec Ops troopers and Inferno Squad:
I really like how dynamic their sculpts are, they are really cool and interesting. For example, take this spec ops trooper jumping over a crate:
Given the surcharge GW seems to apply to their dynamic minis, I kinda wonder what would the pricetag be if they sold this one ^^
Moving on to a squad of Death Troopers:
Then I also printed some filthy rebels, starting with a twilek raider squad (probably would count as rebel veterans or pathfinders, or maybe would be interesting to mix them into other units to lower the amount of regular humans on them):
I also did a twilek sniper team:
And a clown car (rebel landspeeder, which is basically their version of a technical, with added drive-by missile launcher!):
I'm loving all the absolutely gorgeous stuff it's out there for Legion, and the fact that the game is quite interesting helps, too!

The unhelmeted heads look a little large, but the detail o all of those models is superb!
How do you get it so smooth??? I ran a 10 micron layer height model, and it still looks like a tiny relief map!

How do you get it so smooth??? I ran a 10 micron layer height model, and it still looks like a tiny relief map!
For starters, I do some tests to get the "sweet spot" for layer time for each layer height I try, meaning I have tests usually for 50 microns and for 20 (the above are all 20 microns except for the landspeeder, which is 50).
For example, this is an example of an "ok" test, but nowhere near perfect, with the test I use:
All the details are there, so that's good, but there's some overcuring, as the letters are a big too thick, and the center figures fuse at the middle, where they shoud be barely touching, so that means there's room for improvement.
Now, this second is basically the sweet spot for the resin and layer height:
As you can see, everything is there again, which is great, but the layers dimensions are much tighter.
This is important, because one of the things that make layers noticeable is that many times they overcure or undercure a bit, so there's a bigger "step" than it should. On minis, it is actually pretty noticeable.
That's one thing: the other is making a good use of the anti aliasing and similar options: one thig you need to understand is that, the bigger you set those, the less sharp the layers are going to be... yes, it might make layers less noticeable, but usually... try to not overdo it. I usually set it at 2.
Lastly, movement speeds and ligh off delays: as a general thing, if you lower the speed a bit it will help to avoid supports failures and layer sliding, so that's important.
The Ligh off delays are something that I usually see people set it at 0, and it's actually an important setting, and more important the more viscous the resin you use is: basically, it's a delay between layers that allows the resin to set correctly for the next, imporoving quality. Sonic has a very handy calculator for that, that I heartily reccomend:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19nPJ16sjrXwjgUk_S3x7mDkPCXnz3-_wBngHrcXhaw0/edit?fbclid=IwAR3cTu_zGaf51TBWTCO8TrLpCNFW3C5zxBQHSeLrbB5ynz_YWTwZgncbjB4#gid=1981963383
It will allow you to set the proper light off times for your other settings.

Lovely work.
I’ve just run 6 different versions of the same model using different exposure times (between 2.5s and 1.2s) and layer heights (between 50 and 10 micron) some with 2xaa and others without, and I can’t see any difference at all…
I have been using the default Mono light off setting of 0.5. I see the spreadsheet you linked to would suggest 5.5s. Is that not a tad long?

It will depend on the viscousness of your resin. The thicker it is, the more it will benefit from it. The thinner it is, the less it will matter. For example, if you're using Elegoo resin, which usually is quite runny, you're probably safe using much less.
Personally I have set 7 and 8 there, but mainly because speed doesn't matter at all to me.
I have found that the best way of noticing the differences is using photos. With the naked eye I really can't see much of a difference between 50 micron layers and 20 micron ones at all, but on closeup photos it's really noticeable.

I can't wait to see your take on Geode! I think he's the best new character in the High Republic. I'm curious which of his multiple poses you'll choose but I personally recommend the heroic one. I just wish they offered a presupported version of the model for ease of printing.

Dunno man, it fells a little too fiddly
So, news this week. The original Mars's plate leveling sensor broke, and it was almost two years since I bought it (so still in warranty). I called Amazon, they tried to contact Elegoo, apparently not to much avail, and then Amazon gave me the money back. So... yeah.
I kinda preordered a Mars 3 4k ^^.
Anyways, this weekend I got vaccinated and didn't have so much time to print, so I only did a test plate...

Seems like expansion beyond 4K resolution will be massively diminishing returns. They are lovely prints. The detail on the cannon crystal is great.
Looking forward to see what you can get out of the Mars 3! Hopefully it’s AA will work!

Congrats on the rebate and the surprise funds for a new printer! I didn't realize they were up to the Mars 3 already but I've been out of the hobby loop for a while now. Do you know the pixel density compared with the plate size for the 4k? I'm curious how much better than the 47 um (iirc) the original mars had this will be.

The specs say 35 microns resolution on the XY axis. Automatically Appended Next Post: Flinty wrote:Seems like expansion beyond 4K resolution will be massively diminishing returns. They are lovely prints. The detail on the cannon crystal is great.

Honestly, I don't think it will get much more definition unless you go for special resins and the like.
