Oldmarines are not going anywhere as long as the Horus Heresy game is still being supported. And GW have publically committed to keeping HH as their third main game alongside AoS and 40K for the forseeable future.

Based on the available evidence, GW have no plans to get rid of oldmarines. That may, of course, change at some point in the future. But it's not something I'm going to worry about unless GW stops doing HH stuff.

A little bit of righteous anger now and then is good, actually. Don't trust a person who never gets angry.

They're both the same price because they're the same kit (i.e., the Razorback kit).

And I fully expect that if those days finally come and if the Dakka Dakka forum is still a thing at the point we will get all manner of, "See! You all thought I was mad when I said that GW would squat non-Primaris marines! You all laughed at me! Well who is laughing now! HA! HA! HA!"

Thanks for the info but I think the Razorback has an extra or alternate sprue for the heavy weapons ? And that wasn't really my point. The vanilla Rhino was £20 before it was taken off the GW site this weekend. When it reemerged, it had gained a new boxing (allegedly, from posts in this thread) and significantly an extra £7.50 in cost, putting it at the same price point as the Razorback. That's a big hike in price for an old kit. But the Chaos Rhino, with its additional DG sprues is still the same price as it was last week, now £2.50 less than both of the SM versions.

Again, there is no separate Rhino kit anymore. When you order a Rhino, you're actually ordering the Razorback kit. The product description for the Rhino confirms this.

Honestly kind of surprised they didn't do this year's ago. Who just bought rhinos when for a few bucks more you could have a rhino and a razorback in the same box?

Not anymore. What happened, is that there is no longer a Rhino kit that is not also a Razorback kit.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

Also, I'm pretty sure the Rhino kit was £22.50 (not £20) before the re-boxing. Yes it's still gone up substantially, but by £5 rather than £7.50.

In the moment we observed the size of the new CSM, it was clear what the future reserves.
The rest is just GW doing his best - squeeze as much as possible from marine players. And why shouldn't they, seen the attitude.

Hey, I saw the preorders from my FLGS, it's just a rebox. Rhinos and Razorbacks aren't gone for ever.

I might be having a moment but weren't Rhinos 26 euros last month?
They are now up to 35?

Again, it's because you can't buy a separate Rhino kit anymore. When you order a Rhino kit from Games Workshop you receive the Razorback kit:

This 76-piece plastic kit makes one Rhino or one Razorback. It comes supplied with an Ultramarines Vehicle Transfer sheet.

Ah righto.

On a related note, Element games are selling Rhino kits for 21 euro. Not bad tbh.

Rhino kit wasn't reboxed and is technically removed as a standalone item. They reboxed the Razorback kit that also contains everything needed to make a rhino.

I am surprised it took them this long. The old rhino kit was stupid when you could buy the razorback and easily switch between the Rhino and Razorback version without the use of magnets. I stopped buying rhino versions a long time ago because of that.

WTF does this even mean? They've slightly rescaled CSMs, therefore every single regular SM model is due for imminent deletion from the range and purging from the game? That's not even a coherent argument. I mean, BSF has traitor guard who are scaled slightly differently to the current plastic Cadians. I guess that means Cadians are about to get squatted by your 'logic' too, right?

It's just silly scaremongering.

"Imminent" is relative.
Point out when I said "imminent".
What will happen is a gradual removal. Every tiny bit that can still be squeezed from the old marines must be squeezed.
And obviously the current Cadian models are going to go soon or later. They are like the current marine line. Obsolete.

My memory isn’t perfect, but as far as I can remember the kit being available, you could buy it singly. I think the 3 models in one box was a promotion they ran for a short time. And I very much doubt the price jumped that much to 3E. I suspect, like the Land Raider, the cost was increased over time (I remember balking at $55 USD for Land Raiders, but I don’t remember the cost of rhinos at that time).

It never ends well

The original Rhino on launch was definitely £9.99 for 3, yes
