Either Cadian or Valhallan.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

There area second vostroyand regiment called vostroyan ice warriors though, whatever those are. I think it was just a misstype.
Ah! That'd be them alright.

Also, considering the new format of Codex:Space Marines, how likely do you guys think it will be that Guard - and other factions for that matter - follow suit? Anyone see it likely that we might soon be seeing a generic Codex: Astra Militarum, with supplements for unique regiments? Do you guys think they will continue to name regiments after homeworlds? Will the Cadians continue to typify the faction, despite their not really being an actual Cadia anymore?

I think they would only do this if they released new models. They cant promote books for ranges they dont sell any more.

That said I do think new guard models will arrive in like 2 years. I don't think every faction will get a wave 2 book. Changes without new minis can be handled in chapter approved etc.

No, No, No, and Yes.

Space Marines are the biggest, flashiest, and best endowed faction. We just exist, and get normal treatment. That said, if the supplements really take off, there might be Cadian and Catachan and Guard, because there used to be a separate Catachan book.

Most of the regiments are unknown to me and I am in the hobby since the 90s. So why bother with them in the first place.?

Wow! Thanks for all the replies guys! You all have really interesting reasons for liking the regiments! From what I can tell the DKoK won (subject to change), but it has been a tight competition. Sorry abou the bit where I combined the Vostroyan Firstborns and Valhallan Ice Warriors.

"Morons? Really? Why not, like, Madmen, at least we won't sound like frakkin' idiots then."
"Ugh, fine... Mortens' Madmen reporting."

Isn't there a canon AM regiment dedicated to fighting Tyranids? I forgot its name. Out of the ones listed, I like the Cadians, but also the not-Khornate Berzerker Kanaks, and the diseased Salvar Chem Dogs. It's hard for me to pick one favorite.

Death Korps of Krieg. More specifically, my 124th "Capita Mortis" Assault Brigade. They're sent to the most hellish, apocalyptic warzones for a reason!

Vostroyan. You have to love anyone willing to fight an Ork waaagh or daemonic incursion with nothing but a fancy coat and their great-grandfather's artisanal laser-flintlock (however that works).

Too bad it's all but impossible to make an army of them, currently.

Honorable mention to the DKoK for the obvious reasons.

Valhallans! After reading the Ciaphas Cain series I love their stoicism and fatalism. Also their fanaticism born of living on a death world.

17,000 points (Valhallan)
10,000 points
6,000 points (Order of Our Martyred Lady)
Proud Countess of House Terryn hosting 7 Knights, 2 Dominus Knights, and 8 Armigers
Stormcast Eternals: 7,000 points

Aren't regiments units of a few thousand men? The guard would probably have millions if not billions of regiments if they are of equivalent size.

"Hold my shoota, I'm goin in"
Armies (7th edition points)
7000+ Points Death Skullz

There was detachment D-Something-or-other from the Imperial Armour Tyranid Book. [You know, when Tyrgons were a forgeworld unit.] They were designed specifically to fight Tyranids.

I voted for Tallarn but there are multiple regiments I really like fluf wise. My other favourite would include the Death Korps (The WWI look is really appealing on some strange level), Thanits First and Only (I like their background), Ventrilian Nobles/Praetorian Guard (they just look... splendid!) and various homebrew regiments, were the responsible player really put his heart into the background of his dudes.

I like a lot of regiments, but the only one I have done a 28mm army out of is Savlar Chem Dogs, so I gotta go with that.
