So, I might be barking up the wrong tree, but according to the new Space Marine Datasheets, Crusader Squads are out of the new Codex.
While I imagine a lot of the characters named are going to get embiggened by cawl's magic surgery, and released with the individual chapter suppliments, I am struggling to see why they would bother adding Crusaders Squads in the Datasheet, if they were also going to get a chapter suppliment re-print. If this is the case, does it signal the end of the Crusaders Squad?

I've got a ton of Templars, and whilst ALL of them (give or take) are run in Crusader Squads, some (bolt pistol + chainsword) are more crusader squad than others, and I've got a stash of scouts just to run in these squads.
I for one would really miss this change - I love the character it gives our chapter - I've put up with a slew of underwhelming rules to play this chapter, because it's one I really enjoy, and it feels kinda sad to lose all that, especially as I don't want to play primaris marines. I hope I'm wrong - what do y'all think?

the answer is so that you can go and play a game of 40k now with your crusader squads without having to wait for the sons of dorn supplement, which for all we know could take months to arrive (I SUSPECT they'll rapid fire them but it's possiable GW won't)

I hope you are right about that, but I feel like if it was a suppliment exclusive, they wouldn't do this, then re-print it. Crusader Squads were in the previous codex, so what's the point of taking them out, and subsequently putting them in a Datasheet and a suppliment?

my guess is GW's comfortable eneugh that all the new stuff is going to be reason eneugh to buy the supplement, not rules for crusader squads that at literally a copy paste from the last codex

Because the new SM 'dex is only including units which are not Chapter-specific.

You'll also note that Ultramarine-specific units were in their supplement, as well as their characters.

BT will probably be included in the IF book, alongside CF, and the Crusader squad will pop up in there alongside the BT characters.

Until WHC preview one, or one is referenced in a GW seminar, I'm working on the theory that the six supplements we were shown were for the First Founding Chapters which shared space with the Ultramarines.

I agree. but it's worth keeping at the back of your mind as a possiability and not panicing if it turns out that the IF supplement comes out and they're not there. I mean TBH I'd kinda PREFER Black templars to have their own supplement.
