I was thinking about running it with my army to go along with my 3 units of maxed out poxwalkers to increase their survivability but I'm not sure it would be worth it I have 62 points to spend figured it would fit perfectly. What are your thoughts on it?

It's not the strongest choice, but it doesn't need to save much to be worth taking.

If he can save a couple plague marines along the way as well, gravy.

Look at all the things he can do, he's not bad in CC, and has a safety bubble. I'd love if his ability was a buffed a bit at some point but I think he has merit. Hold in mind, he's not a competitive choice I don't believe, but can be worth it.

He makes units around him 5 % more survivable. Woop. A stylistic choice more than anything else.

My mate runs him when we play semi competitive (mostly competitive but we run a unit or two that is style over substance) and it does make those damn pox walkers that much harder to shift off objectives and that can be all the difference between obsec and contested.

Sometimes you gotta pick some units for style and I really doubt he won't improve at some point. Like I'd love to see him let either re rolls to the resilient roll or a +1 to it. The amount of poor rolls I see for those abilities, are really high so that would help tons.

The Plague Surgeon is a lovely mini, but I find the rules really underwhelming.

I converted mine into Necrosius The Undying, who is a great psyker and has the 'benefits' of a Plague Surgeon on top.

He's not a great unit. At all. Which is a shame as the mini is great (as is the one I converted to have a plague doctor mask. Now you sit on my shelf excellent conversion... )

If this is what you are taking him for (and only that) Necrosius does exactly the same thing (re-roll 1's of DR, but only for Poxwalkers) and is a good solid choice.
