Subject: C. S. Goto was not the worst BL writer ever.
So, on my way into work this morning I had a moment of fridge logic: Most of the stuff we ridiculed Goto for writing has come to pass, in a manner of speaking.
The flying, transforming Razorback/Land Raider/Predator; yeah, that's a Repulsor (maybe Executioner).
Marines using heavy stubbers on thier tanks; yeah, they do that now (well, primaris do).
I vaguely recall a statement of a pilot getting out of a dread; Invictor Tactical warsuit.
The "surfing" on top of the tank was just the convention of placing a model in the transport on it, I think.
This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

No multi lasers or terminator back flip.
Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I foresee it all coming to pass in the blood ravens supplement, GW has to start playing their hand closer to their chest.
Blood Ravens will "recover lost artifacts" from fallen Ynarri harlequin allies of bobby G in the form of flip belts, that they will then fit to their multi-laser armed termies.
Edit: I am going to have to fashion myself a tinfoil crown.

Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?" In all fairness, as bad as Goto was, there is a lot of bad 40k fluff, a lot of it by ostensibly respected names. Abnett's Brothers of the Snake for instance was a nauseatingly awful adventure in Space Marine absurdity that I couldn't even finish, where a single tactical squad slay thousands of literal hordes of Dark Eldar in close quarters in a few hours without any casualties before arresting Guard officers outside their remit of authority for incompetence (apparently for a lack of plot armor) and sending a single Tac marine to deal with a Dark Eldar ship that crashes on a backwater world and single handedly grappling with whale sized ocean krakens
IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.
New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights! The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Quite frankly a lot of Abnett's work is wildly overrated. He writes in a "shotgun" style approach - he cranks out a massive amount of work. Some of it hits, and some of it doesn't. Quantity over quality. He's like the Roger Corman of 40k literature.

Goodness, the people who wrote that are awfully angry and edgy aren't they.
One of the three primary sources of background info for some people. I despair for this hobby sometimes...
Whilest i do not reccomend ID4 Chan, Goto's article on it, is , how to put it, excactly the right place in combination with the right people to be angry about him.
And you can bet on the wierdos at ID4Chan that they succesfully will list any transgression of him.
(Sidenote, go to the lexicanum if you want a better lore source)

I know. I tend to gravitate towards Lexicanum.
Too many people nowadays solely get their background knowledge from 1d4chan, memes and The Emperor text to speech (a series that frankly should have never made it past the pilot) series and it is seriously damaging to this hobby.

Goto you can at least ignore. Phil Kelly helps write codices, which means any bad fluff written will be present because you were unfortunate enough to by a codex written with his help.

I disagree on the later part, due to beeing more like early gw where it also had a Grimmderp sense of humor.
As for the first. We don't need Id4Chan to turn the hobby into a meme. Gw's rule and legal team allready accomplish that consistently

Well, i mean it sometimes is an advantage when your main faction DOESN'T have a codex

1d4chan is for laughs, not for research. The tactic articles are the only somewhat useful thing. Go else where if you want lore or proper information about authors.

I don't know him, what did he write and why was it so bad?
My personnal worst author is Andy Hoar. He mostly wrote codexes and was rather good at writting technical description of things and events, but is horrible at narrative. He wrote the book Huunt for Voldorius in which Raven Guard and White Scars unite to kill a daemon prince. The text is filled with useless dialogues, characters are flatter then cardboards and action scenes are written with all the tension and excitement of a guy retelling the scenes of Die Hard 2 six years after he saw the movie the last time. He also wrote a few short stories about the Iron Warriors and they are even worse. When it comes to naming characters, he's even worst then George Lucas, or whoever named people in World of Warcraft or the morron who came up with Ferrus Manus Primarch of the Iron Hand, Corvus Corax Primarch of the Raven Guard and Alpharius of the Alpha Legion.
