Hi guys,

As is my wont, I have have printed and then painted yet another Godzilla.

If you're not familiar with Shin Godzilla, it's the most recent Toho Godzilla - released in 2016 and had a US release. Up until King of the Monsters, it was the most recent, and largest, Godzilla. It also looks a little different - it evolved in definite phases over the course of the movie.

Spoiler:

I wrote a very long post detailing how I printed and painted this, and you can read all that jazz by clicking. You're here to see pictures, so here they go:

Spoiler:

It may not look it because of perspective, but the tails are lined up at the same point. The Shin Godzilla is much, much longer than the Heisei Godzilla.

I am particularly proud of how the feet came out. Don't kinkshame me.

The eyes were finished with some water effects to give them a good shine.

Some quick questions for people who don't want to read the long making of thread:

How big is that exactly?
508 mm tall, 424 mm wide, 638 mm deep. He is roughly to scale with the other 2 Godzillas I have printed.

How long did it take to print?
Roughly a month of nearly continuously printing. I didn't track filament usage, but I would guess about 2 spools ($28 USD of PLA filament). The head and hands were printed with DLP resin concurrent with the FDM printing. Maybe a buck or two of resin. So, $30 in materials and $13 for the model STL (I had a coupon).

What kind of printer are you using?
I use two printers - an Anycubic I3 Mega, which is a FDM (plastic) printer. That will do 90% of the model. However, the focal points I prefer finer quality, so I printed the head and hands with a DLP (resin) printer, an Anycubic Photon. For slicers I use Cura and ChituBox, respectively.

Where did you get the STL?
Gambody.

How much does it weigh?
I always get this question, but I again forgot to weigh it. I might when I get home. I would estimate 8 or so lbs / 3.5kg.

Why do you keep printing these?
I don't know.

These are awesome! The classic one on the right is my favorite, but thats because it takes me back to my childhood. I think I like the newest ones paint job the most though.

I just had a funny scenario in my head of whoever handles your estate when your gone (hopefully MANY years in the future after a fruitful life) opening up your attic and finding like 150 massive Godzilla dolls

Thanks for sharing Ouze!

It’s not going to be a surprise though, but the cause of death. “Local man crushed under half a ton of Godzilla statues when attic floor gives out”

Love seeing you printing out and building all these. Tempted to do it myself, but then reality slaps me upside the head and tells me just to live vicariously though people crazier then I am.
