The new models are truly impressive. I'm on the fence myself. If the armybook is good I'll probably start yet another army. Although I truly do not like painting black armor.

Anyway, I love the new models and will be grabbing some for a Khorne marked S2D army.

I actually like S2D. It is very 1990s awesome which I like,

Well they don't HAVE to be painted black I guess. I really like the look of black with gold trim heavy armor though. I won't mind if the battletomb isn't all that good as long as warriors/knights feel brutal and scary.

I’m going to be painting mine in a dark aqua to replace the black. I think they also said the book will have different sub-factions so I assume they’ll be doing alt colours.

re black armor I've been wondering if a lead beltcher spray with a black contrast paint would make for a nice darkened iron look

Iron Warrior is darker than leadbelcher.

Go for that.

You can get a glimpse of what the Iron Warriors paint looks like at the 6.23 mark of this YouTube video from Bitzbox.

yeah but I'm talking about a contrast over a metallic, which can produce some nifty results fast

Am I the only one hoping that the aftermarket gluts with the old Chaos plastics?

Looking for dice from the new AOS boxed set and Dark Imperium on the cheap. Let me know if you can help.

I'd scoop up more of those knights for sure. Love em.

I'm hoping the aftermarket gluts with extras of the mounted chaos lord from the new SC - I'm perfectly content with my warriors and knights, but I could always use more HQ minis.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

I think I might be the only person on the planet that is relatively disappointed in the new Chaos Warrior/Knight sculpts. The mounted Lord is radical though pretty symmetrical with both Chaos warriors and the Stormcast Lord on dracoline.

However after seeing the *incredible* work they did with Warcry bands, having the "new" models just be old models with extra dynamic movement effects feels sloppy and lazy.

Iron Golems, Cypher Lords, The Unmade, Splintered Fang, Corvus Cabal. These were all experimental, testing the waters type sculpts that really had no similar predecessors for fantasy or AoS and ended up being a smash hit. Bringing in so many players new and old to play a cheap-to-buy-in skirmish game in the mortal realms using mostly chaos worshippers/cultists. Hell even the Untamed Beasts and the Godsworn Hunt from Underworlds were pretty slick despite holding close to the muscle-bound barbarian trope of old Marauders. There's obviously an incalculable amount of room for innovation in the Chaos line. So seeing that they didn't take that opportunity seems kind of sad to me in a way.

It killed my hope of building/converting/kitbashing a wacked out Chaos Warrior cult army without using 3rd party models and being able to have them shown off at tourneys or parades or such. I still plan to make a Chaos cult army someday but its been put on the backburner for more "official" armies due to this lackluster teaser and not having crazy amounts of time and money for hobby stuff.

For my first game (750 points currently) I am thinking of going with this:

Start Collecting Chaos Sorcerer with Rune Staff
Chaos Warriors x10 (Shield and Hand Weapon)
Chaos Warriors x10 (Shield and Hand Weapon)
Chaos Warriors x10 (Shield and Hand Weapon)

All units have the Mark of Tzeentch

It is only 700 points which is fine. I'll make due. It seems like this would be simple enough to learn the game with. It shouldn't be too bad to get built and basic paint before the next point jump either.

That extra 50pts gets you an extra command point. Could be useful in a pinch, and it doesn’t go to waste.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
