Reviving mass battle rules vs. AoS skirmish-like rules is my guess.

It never ends well

They announced awhile back that they would be doing something called "Warhammer Legends", giving old factions/model combinations rules to bring them fully in line with AoS as it stands.

My guess is Warhammer Legends, or they are going to reveal more updated units.

I thought they might be doing something to compete with 9th age but that would mean they'd be admitting that they were wrong to get rid of fantasy.

Probably warhammer legends.

The answer is simple, someone was cleaning out the warehouse and found a bunch of square bases in a box. And now they'll sell them to you, for about $2.00 each.

AoS End Times and then making WFB 9th edition and everything will, at long last, be as should always have been.

I'm going to assume something for Age of Sigmar.

I don't know why they would be bringing back square bases, though.

WHFB was uh, to put it nicely, terrible, but there's still die-hard holdouts so they might be bringing back some form of ruleset for it.

I doubt they'd make Age of Sigmar apocalypse equivalent require re-basing minis.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

Well, you all know the sayings concerning believing everything you read on the internet & opinions...

But, like 40K, what edition you're looking at vs what you want from the game also matters greatly.

In fairness if you already hated AoS to start with its not likely that GW's AoS marketing would work on you much anyway

That is a strange argument. WFB is gone. Some people are happy about it. Some people are happy about AoS. Great for them. But why does GW, the company, has to make moves to make fun of people that liked WFB, or that disliked the fact that GW first made the game fail, and then instead of fixing it, they killed it. Does it rise the sale of AoS, when they make fun of WFB? Do AoS player and GW feel better about themself, when that is done?

This is correct. WHFB 6th Edition - particularly around the early Ravenous Hordes days - was pretty wonderful. I never really understood the people who hated on the entire system because things got super messy and bloated by 8th Edition as if it was never good.

I would say this but unironically for 7th and 8th, and especially '''''9th'''''.

Not sure if I understand what that video is trying to say to be honest. Are they implying on a big story event for Age of Sigmar or something? What does that have to do with square bases though.

Wtf they gonna bring back fantasy battles. Those bastards, the end times was just a marketing scheme to start of a new model-line and game only to bring it back... And all those who rebased their fantasy minis now has to start new armies. I bet this was planned all along!

Nah fam, WHFB was an amazing game where flanking and movement actually mattered. Morale actually mattered as well, and games weren't decided by the end of the second battle round. There are more unique factions in that game then just another flavor of Space Marines. I got my start in the hobby at the end of 6th edition and absolutely fell in love with the game at the start of 7th.

GW killing fantasy left a really bad taste in my mouth, it took years for me to go back to the company and try my hand playing 40k. I was especially upset at the fact that I purchased a bunch of Tomb Kings during their new 8th edition revamp, only to have them get squatted in only two years! That was a lot of money I spent on something that was no longer supported in such a short period of time. Felt like an actual slap in the face. Due to that debacle I am incredibly hesitant to even give AoS a shot, how do I know the models and rulebooks I buy will still be usable in the next year or two?

Well i have a square based undead army with "army of darnkess" theme sitting around since fantasy battle. I never even considered rebasing them. In fact i habe never rebased a miniature. So my 40k orks are still on 25mm. Whenever someone comments I just say "deal with it, these miniatures are completed" .

I can see WHFB not being for everyone, but it was far from terrible. I actually value it a good deal over AoS just because it felt like a different game, now AoS feels like 40k and if I want a 40k feel, I'd rather just play 40k and save my fantasy for my old style warfare tactics which felt very good. I will say WHFB wasn't really a super fun game to watch, but I loved playing it. I didn't love the super high cost to make a viable army though.

as this is not 40k related and we have a thread(s) about this elsewhere this is somewhat redundant.
