Hello All,
In the 80's & 90's was a very competitive Warhammer Fantasy player with many of my armies appearing in White Dwarf.
I have decided to get into
40K as a Necron. The way I built armies in the past was through experimenting on model conversions, settling on a theme, then build as "competitive" an army I can within my theme.
However, I do not know/understand what a truly competitive Necron list option(s) looks like. Are they all Doomsday arks & Doom scythes, with filler units? OR are there many competitive list options to consider?
I do understand Warriors are a poor unit in comparison with other options (Immortals as an example)....
I have looked at this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWFK2sn8IZg&t=765s from Almost Pro Gaming for one persons current views.
And watched this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PM4hYpXiDG0 of a recent Necron battle report
What I am looking for is competitive Necron list I can start acquiring from a zero owned model starting point, with the standard 750,1500,2000 point lists in mind as I collect & build.
Model count is not a limiting factor... if a heavy Immortal list is one you think is competitive I would love to see it & understand your reasoning!
One thing I am trying to avoid in this army build, is building the army around one trick or a single unit that everyone but me understands may get significantly "nerfed" in the near future, as all my models will be significantly converted (25-75% of each model converted).
Thanks for any and all feedback!
