So, my local gaming store is doing a buy 1 get one free deal and I bought 2 boxes of the Know no fear set. What the ever loving hell is going on? I have never bought a box set from GW because they usually aren't that great or the "savings" isn't worth much. I know very little about Space Marines and Deathguard but I wanted to take a quick comparison.

Primaris Captain: $35
Intercessors: $30 (60 for all 10)
Inceptors: $50
Hell Blasters: $30 (60 for all 10)

Space Marine Value = $145

Death Guard Plague Marines: $35 (50 for all 7)
Death Guard Bloat Drone: $50
Death Guard Poxwalkers: $25
Death Guard Lord of Contagion: $30 (No real comparison on the market)

Death Guard Value: $145.

Price of Know No Fear Box set: $80. So....this is the question I have for you guys.....what am I missing, why is this such an amazing deal and why haven't they been sold out of stock?

It is of excellent value, but bear in mind that these are monopose models and do not come with any extra options.

They haven't been sold out because GW keeps making them, and most everyone who has wanted Know No Fear has bought 2-3 of them already. You can only own so many Inceptors with bolters, or Hellblasters, or monopose marines.

These minis were made from the molds created for Dark Imperium and GW likes to get a lot of use from their molds in most cases (see: 15 year old Rhno sculpts) and providing a cheap entry point into their game is good business.

From a linear price-comparison standpoint consider: the major expense to GW is designing and making the moulds. Know No Fear/Dark Imperium is one set of sprues, while the separate multi-part non-quickbuild boxes are each an individual set of sprues that need to be designed and manufactured separately. The price of buying the individual components separately is best explained by pointing out that needing to make moulds for individual character blisters inflates the price to pretty ludicrous extremes ($30-35 single models) and they aren't as silly when they lump together multiple characters onto one sprue (see: Custodes Shield-Captains on the same sprues as their units, Thousand Sons Exalted Sorcerers as a box of several characters on one set of sprues.)

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

Well either way I am now the proud owner of 2 boxes of these little guys which gives me 2 Primaris Captains, 10 Intercessors, 6 inceptors, 10 Hellblasters, 2 Death Guard Lord of Contagion, 10 Plague Marines, 2 Bloat Drones and 20 poxwalkers. For the grand total of $80 USD

Yeah, basically this is how they can sell it for cheaper. The normal plague marine kit, for example, includes LOTS of additional stuff so that you can customize their appearance and weapons loadout to your preference. It's actually quite a good kit for that… mixed with the Easy-To-Build guys, the Know No Fear / Dark Imperium guys, and the "Plague Marine Reinforcements" trio, you could easily run like 4 or 5 seven-man units of Plague Marines without a single one looking alike.

Anyway, monopose means less sprues, lighter-weight, easier to pack and store, etc.

Additionally, packing lots of models together lets them sell things for cheaper because it takes up less storage and shipping space than a bunch of individual kits does. This is why they can sell the Start Collecting and Battleforce boxes for cheaper than the individual kits.

Finally, there's a certain degree of arbitrariness to pricing within any capitalist economy. This is a bit of an oversimplification, but any given product will always have the price increased to the highest possible point that the customers are willing and able to pay for the item, and that wouldn't destabilize the market. High-end sneakers are good examples of this principle. Even the fanciest sneaker is only going to cost a maximum of $10 or something to manufacture and ship, but they can charge $300 for them because the customer is willing to pay that. Digital transactions are also a good example: it costs fractions of pennies of server space for someone to download a videogame or song, but they can charge their $20 or 99 cents in accordance with the expectations of the customer. That gives companies LOTS of wiggle room to offer discounts and savings and sales while still earning profit on their stock.

also keep in mind Know no Fear is the starter set. generally starter sets are good values because they're supposed to suck you in. it's the classic "loss lead" approuch to sales.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two
