Hi,

Does anyone know the original Citadel paint colors that were used for the 2E-era Ultramarines?

Looking primarily for the base Blue, Yellow, and Red colors so that I can get close approximations from Coat d' Arms or INSTAR.

Additionally, did GW put out a "how to" book around this time on the various paint colors for different 2E era armies?

Thank you, and Happy Holidays!

It would have been Ultramarines blue (obviously ), Blood red and either golden or bad moon yellow (I, and many others used the latter as that was what was in the 40k starter paint set. Complete with Dark Angels green bases of course) for the trim.

I'll poke around in my old White Dwarfs - there is/was definitely a simple how-to paint Ultramarines in numerous articles.

The old painting brochure says Sunburst Yellow.
Of course, this is just the getting started guide, so they kept things simple. So a base of something darker and then a layer of sunburst will likely serve you better.

That's about all you need. Then embellish as you wish. One of the guys on Tales 4 Painters did a large 2nd edition starter set a year or two ago.

Hello!

We've only just caught up on this, the colours for that scheme were converted on our Vintage line, IV-27, IV-28 and IV-29 are the colours you need, These are duplicate colour matches to Ultramarines Blue, Sunburst Yellow and Blood Red, all from the 3rd to 5th Edition paint line

They look like the colourpalette of a McDnbalds comersial.
