Recently it was announced that the fifth book of the Psychic Awakening series would be titled The Greater Good and would star the Tau but we don't know who else. Any idea on who they could be?
For me the most likely would be;
A) the Necrons as the Sautekh Dynasty is right next to Tau space and I could see them making a move against them
B) the Death Guard as they are in the area after the attack on Ultramar and the last entry in the Tau timeline talks about Shadowsun fighting against Death Guard attacking the Startide Nexus.
I am leaning more to the Death Guard right now.

It will have to be a marine faction - gotta have "good guys" to face the NPCs...

I would be even more surprised if the GSC were borne from the Tau caste themselves. A Magus Ethereal would blow my mind, as would GSC in battlesuits.

We already know model release of the PA5. So magus ethereal would be fluff only but in game same magus model as usual

GSC is likely to be one of the two other factions. Although the Shadowsun shot might have been picked from a generic battle photo from the book so it might not even be GSC.

Death Guard are odds-on favourites for the 3rd spot but knowing our luck it will be those damned Necrons again, since we've been joined at the hip with the rusty nerds since day 1. I'd still take Necrons over GSC in a theoretical box set, since Necrons are easier to sell. But if it was Death Guard I might keep them to start a collection.

3 factions is NOT a given, it very well could be just Tau and GSC.

And if there are 3 faction, the third will be 100% imperial, otherwise we would run out of non-imperials too quickly.

If (IF) it is vs. Genestealer Cults, they might also throw Astra Militarum in there. E.g. it "starts" with Astra vs. Tau, Imperium vs. Tau conflict, only to have the GSC do their uprising right in the middle of it.

GW themselves have said there is more than two factions involved.

FB comment said DG will be getting their update... eventually.

Which seems to imply not during this book...

Could be Tau/GSC/Deathwatch, or Imperial Guard would be a good contender.

Necrons would be an interesting foe for the Tau as they are also fierce about holding territory(well, all the factions are), and theres a lot of head locking to enjoy.

But Tau-vs-Guard-vs-Cults looks very likely.

Move on. If you're so desperate for cheap IG+GSC, buy a Start Collecting Guard and a GSC upgrade frame.

Who pissed in your cornflakes? And for the record, I have no interest in GSC. Well, until GSC gets turned adeptus arbites and similar, less dumb vehicles, and in general lose their failed Mad Max look

Psychic Awakening is occurring in the “past” isn’t it? I wonder if this covers the Tau’s fourth? Expansion and their first encounter traveling via the Warp? If so, could be the 3rd faction is Daemons.

If we get too many xenos/chaos fighting each other, we will run out of non-imperials for the imperial factions still left to fight with.

Rats. I would have enjoyed a Tau vs. Necron Psychic Awakening box.

I'm hoping it's Deathwatch as everyone of these PA's has had a SM force in it. That would leave only the SW for the following one and the marines are done with.

Death watch I could see being in it, if so tdeaht watch'll get a fair bit of content as they'd likely get the phobos stuff and a Phobos kill team.

The Steve Parker Deathwatch books would be a good source for the PA narrative.
