I doubt it. Feels more like what we've seen with Wyrd and Privateer where their devs are tired of designing one game so they start making little side game projects as a creative outlet.

Yup, pretty much that.
They have the team behind Aristeia, Defiance, Warcrow... the same guys doing other things while Gutier Lusquinos and Juan Lois keep delivering INFINITY NX stuff.

Dropping a game the moment it's obviously not the next big thing?
No idea. I follow CMON about a tenth as much as CB and I only follow Infinity peripherally. I saw this over in the official forums though from a poster but I can't validate how accurate it is as I only peek at the kickstarters when they come up as side boardgames typically aren't my thing personally and only the occasional mini interests me.
And if the company that is currently on their 3rd Kickstarter, already expects to be running a 4th one, while they've not yet shipped the 2nd and barely managed to provide any kind of FAQ support (after 2 years) for their 1st
Automatically Appended Next Post: As mentioned in the videos linked above, it also looks like CB are introducing another material to their manufacturing lineup in addition to the traditional metal and siocast introduced last year. This time it'll be a PVC hybrid apparently.
They really need to drop the material shifts, it just causes confusion on what your going to get.
Siocast means I will not touch it and plastresin is vague these days it can be anything really. CB minis are super tiny and detailed and thin fragile parts so material is crucial here.
Metal or hips are the only safe bets for me personally.
As for the kickstarter business model and those comments posted thats news to me and I would be worried about backing anything.
Admittedly it wasn't clear but my point with the quotes was to reference post release support and not the method of release. I probably should have just quoted the first half of that forum post so I'll correct that now. Is the poster correct regarding the delivery of the kickstarters and the amount of post release support? Was there any promise or public expectation of more during the initial funding?

I understand that they need to plan ahead and try to account for massive changes in material cost but they've built their brand for better or worse on top quality casting of metal relatively realistically proportioned minis. It'll be difficult to maintain that with other materials without a change in scale/proportions/sculpting as well. At least they're testing it out with an organized play kit here first and not with a retail release but it would be naive to think that won't follow unless the backlash is significant.

Yeah, I was surprised to see it but I don't follow the crowdfunded games after the initial campaign and then only to occasionally get an individual mini on the secondary market. I also don't know if there was any promise or expectation of post release support either on top of any significant delays in the initial release to begin with.

Exactly, I think they are cornered here since their range is all about small, thin and fragile models with loads of intricate detail. This works fine in metal but like you said unless theres some compromise either on the design proportions or overall quality Im not seeing it happening.
Without sounding snobbish I think the way the market is today most will probably not even going to notice the difference.
What Im saying is that for me CB main selling point was "quality". I have seen too many companies in the past trying to sell a cheaper casting material etc has the best thing and that the quality was the same... well none of them managed to keep their word.

Both prior Kickstarters have been marketed as entirely self contained, one and done experiences. They're more board game in nature, not new ongoing miniature lines.

Thanks for the clarification. I'd been guessing that the plan with them was more in line with Aristeia with limited seasonal supplements.

"I am glad I picked this up on the Black Friday sale. It’s definitely not worth full price. Cardboard is very cheap and not really table worthy. Battle systems is easy better looking and easier to assemble. The minis look good but assembling them is the worst experience I have had assembling minis. Legion, GW and even Deadzone minis are so much better. The code-one game itself is amazing. Just download the free code one core book and proxy minis. Look elsewhere for terrain. "

Seems to me someone, unless thats you, that looked at the 12 reviews there and that 10 are 5 starts and one 4 stars and decided to post here the only one that was 3 stars with a negative report. Not cool but hey I get metal is not for everyone specially the younger audiences who are only used to plastic and resins.
