They’re resin, so Forge World.

That's a shame. Thanks to both of you.

Damn, was hoping the Easterlings were being saved for a supplement and LotR not being at the Preview isn't encouraging.

Doesn't mean there's not a supplement coming. We've had models released before the books before.

Don't do that. Don't give me hope.

I mean, there must be a supplement on the way, right? A new unit type for Easterlings would be an incredibly random release to just throw out there. Some new sculpt for an existing profile, sure, but not something like this.

No idea why these are released early and in the same week as the Ents (if the latter hadn't been there, I can see the point in wanting to release *something*), but FW release schedules are all over the place anyway.

There is also the delay with the book printing (see delay of DG codex). Maybe something to do with that, that the schedule is somehow off timing? In the FB group they also mentioned the Mumak war leader and thr new FW named rangers as examples that were released before the supplements

Has anyone done a scaled side-by-side of the new Easterlings with the plastic warriors? Can't help but wonder if the "swift and agile assassins" are going to look like hulked-out roid monsters next to the troops. Slight scale differences are relatively easy to overlook, but those arms put Uruks to shame!

Vigo. Spain.

Yeah, some of the new FW miniatures (Like dol almroth foot knights) are more heroically proportioned (Like old black numenoreans). But they look good enough.

And man, I would love for a new supplement. MESBG supplements are phenomenal. For me, they offer more gameplay value than 5-6 aos/40k codex/battletomes combined.

From the scenarios to the campaings, and the legendary legions. The Black Riders have become my favourite army in all the game, and the best legendary legion for me (With the exception of Dunland, but Dunland is less a legendary legion and his own proper faction).

I know the support this game gets is minimal even compared with stuff like necromunda but I'm happy enough with 2-3 of this books each year.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Precisely because they've done it several times before (the only example I seemed to remember was the first wave of Iron Hills dwarves back in the day; thanks for reminding me of the other cases), I wasn't sure if a delay due to the current situation was specifically a reason here, though it may certainly be the reason they did it this time.

Thinking about it, I wouldn't mind in the slightest if it just became common practice: release models whenever they have something to release, put the rules online for download, and later publish them in a suitable book. They could just release whatever they liked for whatever army, filling unconnected gaps in the various factions.

So 75 dollars for Treebeard, that's about £45 before 20% third party discount. So about £36 then, that's a nice price for him.

I keep telling myself that I don’t need more special edition dice but damn those Fangorn dice are nice. Definitely going to try and grab some with Treebeard and Quickbeam.

That's all so beautiful. I collect dices so I really hope I'll be able to grab a box of them.

FYI, apparently the instructions for Treebeard in the box are wrong, so they put the instructions up as a pdf.

Mistakes in instructions are fairly common. Wonder how bad this was if they release new one(once spent 5 mins searching for part that was misnumbered in instructions. Solved only by forgetting part number and searching by how part looks like)

I'm glad Treebeard is plastic, that resin Ent FW is putting out looks so fragile.

FW's Middle Earth stuff is beautiful but the scale creep is getting concerning. It's probably a consequence of using resin vs. metal. I would love it if GW contracted the Perry brothers to sculpt some more MESBG stuff, their models have aged incredibly well for what are 18-20 year old sculpts.

Looks like the Erebor-Dale War of the Ring theorising was right. Dain and Thorin III.

Not 100% sold on the miniatures, but I love that axe. And the all but confirmed Erebor-Dale-Easterling supplement is very welcome.

Paint job kills it somewhat, but mini's are fine. That explains where the Easterling rules are going to end up.

That's normal for LotR stuff I suppose.

Ah, so Dain does get a "new" profile, but it's basically his old (pre-Hobbit movies) profile. Funny that they explicitly gave him his "red axe" now, which he is described as having used during the War of the Dwarves and the Orcs. A conflation of so many time lines and iterations.

Nice sculpt too. Thorin's alright, nothing too special. And yay! Confirmation of the expansion.

On Treebeard, parts 61 and 62 are missed off the instructions completely. Part 61 goes on the right foot; part 62 is the model's right pinkie (small finger).

The model is a real 3D puzzle anyway - you'll be doing a lot of part fitting and turning to see how things go together. Arm and leg parts tend not to form simple, fully enclosed "tube" structures, and many of the sprue attachments are on the flat parts that are meant to be glued shut.

A beautiful model when it's done though.

As pointed out above, there's a pdf with the correct instructions available. Most annoying thing about him was his right foot i thought.
*Edit* i wonder if we'll get an adult Bain to go in this release as well?

I know, thanks, just pointing out that it's a couple of small pieces.

I built the leg then attached the right foot pieces onto that.

The other tricky bit was the top of his head. I found it easier to do the opposite - put the two pieces together, then work out how that fitted on the head.

I am now marginally invested in lord of the rings. Where would be the best start to go for getting a handle on WoTR?

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.
