Which makes me wonder, among all the Star Fleets and Space Patrols and Star Ship Troopers and Galaxy Rangers has there been a Space Force in fiction?

Well there is "Die beste Frau der Space Force" (the best woman of the Space Force) from about 2001 by Wolfgang Hohlbein. Please don't judge me, cause I know this, I read a lot of SciFi, not only the good stuff.

Oh and of course in the old Perry Rhodan pulp novellas (ca, 1961 and younger) there's the U.S. Space Force.

Believe I would end up with more examples from literature thinking about it.

Ohhh, Perry Rhodan. That takes me back. Did you know the series is still going?

There’s the post-Heresy Imperial Fleet?

I guess that counts. Because if it doesn’t, it’ll bombard your system into oblivion?

Yeah, volume 3000 was published last year. They even have some of the newer ones in the public library here.

Gundam UC Timeline;

Earth Federation Space Force. Of course, they eventually thought that name was kind of dumb, and instead hired some kids to come up with cooler names, like Titans, and Lando Bell

Apparently the logic was Army, Navy, Spacy...

Might have made more sense in Japanese.

This is hysterical

They used the same art for Heinlein's Friday, I thought for a minute it was the translation.

Cool. I still have a bunch of the old ones in Dutch in my parents' attic, including some of the very first ones, #1000, and getting more complete as the numbers get higher. If memory serves up to ~1500 somewhere.
Wonder if those are worth anything now. I suspect not as it's too much of a niche market, but stranger things have happened.

Edit: @ Kid, yeah, thought that looked familiar. One of his better novels, though not his best work by miles.

There's the Royal Space Force in Wings of Honneamise.

And it's been a while, but I think the heroes of Gunbuster were members of the United Nations Space Force.

Perfect!

I remember the toys vaguely but never saw the cartoon, that actually looks kinda sorta good.

Hopefully they'll use in a recruiting ad!

Space Force was founded just so the Air Force and Coasties would have someone to make fun of.

Prove me wrong.
