As per FAQ
‘A unit with the tenet receives the benefit of cover, even
while in the open. A unit with this tenet that moves for
any reason loses the benefit of this tenet until the start
of its next Movement phase.’

Does this benefit me during the first turn if my opponent goes first?

You lose the benefit if you move. Models that have deployed have not moved.

Thanks

Yes you do. It is worded differently to similar abilities that dont work this way.

Other abilities grant you the effect for not moving in the movement phase. Instead this one the effect is on by default and only removed when you do move.

Units that start the game on the board do not count as having moved (assuming that they don't then perform an infiltration move or some such). You would get the bonus.

Many of 'before game starts' infiltration-esque abilities are forms of 'redeployment' - in which case wouldn't arrive at a grey area you bring up.

I'm thinking of stuff like the Adepta Sororitas Dominions' 'Vanguard' ability that allows them to move as if it was the movement phase at the start of the first battleround.

Not sure about stuff like the C'Tan ability that let you redeploy after the game starts...

Usually those rules that let you move "before the game starts", literally say you move as if its the movement phase. The necron ctan grand illusion however is a redeployment, because it says you remove the units from the battlefield, and set them up again.
