So since Black Templars numeral strength is at maximum six times the normal Codex Chapter strength, one would assume their fleet would be roughly six times larger.

Normal chapters have like three battle barges, enough strike cruisers to carry all their companies with the scout company being spread to all other companies along with the veterans company so it would make eight strike cruisers.

So 11 capital ships. And escort squadrons are between 2 to 6 ships, so let us average that to four. So 44 escorts.

So now let's multiply this by six.

18 battle barges, 48 strike cruisers, 264 escorts.

Which I say is a reasonable high-end considering the marine capacity of this fleet is much higher than 6000. In fact at max cap. this fleet holds 12840 Astartes.

And low-end would be to assume the fleet to be constantly at max cap. So cut down the fleet to half to 9 battle barges, 24 strike cruisers and 132 escorts.

Sounds fair enough - as they would suffer attrition

You can also add in support ships like Forge-ships etc and their flagship is a Gloriana class ship which is bigger and much more powerful

Still far less stupid than than a previous Space Wolf Codex which had about 300 ships, Ramalies class Star Forts and numerous other installations for their 1500 or so Marines to command.....

It's almost like they have a Legions worth of ships and never had to split it like other Legions did!

Could even be larger, given they’re second Founding, and thus a splinter of the original Legion and it’s void forces.

And, if you’re off on constant Crusade, you cannot always assume there’ll be Imperial Navy support.

Because Astartes fleets, Post-Heresy, are intended more or less solely for planetary engagement. Able to bull through most defences and deliver their cargo.

But on Crusade? Chances are you’ll need to fight actual fleet engagements, arguably far more often than other Chapters. That requires a very different mix of ships.

Do they have Cruiser or Battle Crusiers? Hard to say. But I’d wager they’ve more Destroyers and Frigates compared to other Chapter Fleets, because they’re necessary.

Not necessarily Cobra, Sword or Firestorm class, but others at least analogous in role. And one suspects those will vary from Fleet to Fleet, depending upon its Master’s preferences for void warfare.

There’s also the possibility that over the intervening 10,000 years, they’ve adopted elements of other fleets into their own. Perhaps survivors of a shattered fleet, maybe elements of a Battle Fleet now permanently seconded into their whole.
