Well, looks like they've closed the plothole of Makari being dead by virtue of Ghazza sitting on him. Much like Boneripper, every Grot in service of Ghazza is called "Makari".

I love that bit, basically ummm... "he died again quick put that helmet on another new standard bearer or da boss will be mad" also I can't see Ghaz getting a 2++ so other than the first wound on an Archon is this the only 2++?

It also looks like this grot's save could benefit from rerolls, which would be epic as all heck. With a 2+ reroll invulnerable he could tie up squads worth 10 times his points for an entire game.

Oh wow that's really cool! I wonder if you'll have to take him alongside Ghazz or can take him in any Warband that's part of Waaaghh Ghazgull.

Edit: Just looking at that model and it does look a bit overbalanced, could be one of those that fall over all the time? Guess I can stick a 1p to the opposite side of the base or something...

Potentially.. but at T3 with 4 wounds it will usually be death by a 1000 cuts - and if he's getting stuck in with the intent to tie up units it will only take on average 2 smites to negate the save anyway.

If that's all his rules(which I wouldn't count on yet. Maybe some buff for orks or maybe he and ghaz have some special rule together like he provides rerolls for ghazz or something) then that's about best usage for him. Not killy, not good buff(LD6 grots...weee! Not...) so it's the 2++ but he's so non threatening non-buffer enemy wont' bother...except you can tag shooty units to combat to prevent shooting. That's only use he has unless there's something still unrevealed(which very well could be)

Mind you depending on cost that's very useful role. Just feels weird. Makari has never seemed like "rush into combat with biggest baddest model to tie him up" in fluff to me.

Do we know the slot?

Good luck making all grot army with 1 unique HQ model. Guess spearhead is the way to go. 3x6 killa kans, 3x6 mek guns, as much grot units as you can fit. Not much though. Can you even make 1k list with that?

i mean with enough grot bodies... there is not limit on troop slots. unfortunately with 1 HQ only it would necessitate being unboound. if somehow he is not unique though then no issues.

Yeah, sadly my all-grots will still need to use my proxy big meks. Which is fine, I've got a ton of other units that aren't "officially" gretchins that I run - my looted carnifexes piloted by grots are Deff Dreads with 4x arms, my squig hoppers are stormboyz, and my noblars standing on each others shoulders are Runtherds.

You can always throw in Da Red Gobbo for extra grot army fun. He could bless a couple units with frag grenades by the time they get into range. He could also bless Makari, so that the poor sod could have a shooting attack.

Well if you aren't playing with matched play rules you don't have to worry about lack of hq to begin with(btw all detachments do have troop limit. And if you don#t folllow det's then no need for single hq)

Though good for grot players in any case. As long as you can take him without ghaz

It also undermines the idea that GW are bringing Makari back - since it's not actually the same individual. It's just nostalgia baiting.

that depends, maybe both Mork and Gork smile on Ghaz as their champion, but they imbue his standard bearer with certain powers as well. alternatively the orks around Ghaz ebleive his standard bearer is special and so he is. doesn't matter which Gretchin is in the position they get that surge of WAAGH energy
