Hey everyone,

This is my first post here. I used to play Eldar when i was a young lad back in the 90s. I decided to get back into the hobby and ditch the xenos. I was mostly a painter but I've decided I'd like to give the actual game a go. I've gone with a Space Marine army, Emperor's Spears.

I just got 6 deathwing terminators off a local fellow for dirt cheap and I was just wondering if I'm able to convert them without breaking "the rules". I know this is dependent upon who I am playing with, and how tight the arse is and so on... But in general I was just wondering. I could just use some green stuff or a file to fix up the iconography so they don't have dark angel symbols on em. Beyond that is there anything I need to do to make it codex compliant? I can just make up some bs and give them a back story for my own satisfaction. Beyond that they're just terminators yes?

Yes, you absolutely can use them for your own terminators.

People only really have a problem if the scale is off, if the base size is different or the weapons aren't represented properly.

Again, this does depend on who you play. Sombody might actually not want to play against you if you bring anything that isn't the original model. Personally I've never encountered that. Mostly only really need to worry about that kind of thing at tournaments.

They're your models, do what you want with them.

I convert things up all the time, and honestly, if someone doesn't want to play against my army, feth em. I don't have time to waist on people with no imagination.

Just remember that Death Wing Terminators have loadouts that other Marine chapters can't take. So make sure you use the proper weapons when modeling them or make it known ahead of time what each weapon is.

Square Bases for Life!
AoS is pure garbage
Kill Primaris, Kill the Primarchs. They don't belong in 40K
40K is fantasy in space, not sci-fi

There are a couple of weapons Deathwing Terminators can have that normal Codex Terminators can't (the plasma cannon, mixed assault and tactical Terminators in the same squad), how are they equipped?

As to iconography you can shave off the iconography if you want but most people would be fine with you using them as normal non-Deathwing Terminators if they're correctly armed. Maybe paint them a different colour.

Thanks for the replies!

4 have stormbolters and power fists. 1 has a stormbolter and chainfist. 1 has an assault cannon and a powerfist.

Of course you can. You don't even have to remove any iconography, either. All you have to do is be clear which rules you're using.

A completely standard Codex squad loadout. If you like the wings and feathers pick a non-cream colour scheme (or a cream colour scheme if you want, but it's harder than doing something darker) and go to town, if you don't like the feathers and want to shave the iconography off be careful with your fingers.
