Just wanted to put this before the Mods.
Currently we've now a (defunct) thread for New York Toy Fare. The next big reveal sesh will be Adepticon, on 25 March.
Any objection to modifying the existing thread to be a 'catch all?'

I feel that having a different thread for each preview event that is closed a few weeks afterwards is the best way to proceed. It allows the discussion to move to their own topics instead of having everything crammed into a single thread. I'd rather see the discussion for the Lumineth Realm-Lords in a dedicated Age of Sigmar thread instead of mixed in a thread discussing Adeptus Mechanicus, board games, action figures and chibis just because they were shown at a preview event. The best way to do that is to have the mods close the thread and send the discussions to their own separate threads.

The problem with a single big catch-all thread is that it can fast get sidetracked. Heck look at the Blood of the Phoenix model release thread - its 5 pages complaining about prices and there wasn't even any price release information until around half way through the second page.
The Toy Fair thread got distracted a few times as well.
Contained within themselves that's fine, maybe not always ideal; but it lets them go their own way. Meanwhile the start of the threads are normally pretty orderly or at least get the key information across.
A combined thread would be a mess with the first pages quickly being far out of date and relating to release info from months ago; whilst the opening post might only be any good if one person keeps it updated with all the collected news.
Going into the thread it wuld be messy. Anyone new or not part of the thread would quickly get lost as the subject jumped and shifted along with the release seminars and such.
I think one thread per event works better. It allows the thread to have a focus and also opens up more options for other brands not just GW when there's big events that have multiple contributing companies. Plus it means that hte first post stays relevant without much work. It's also more welcoming to new people to read and engage with (new to the thread not the site); whilst a mega monster thread can sometimes be very offputting unless you're already part of the threads "clique club"

A single thread for each event is absolutely the way to go. We almost always get a news thread, a 40K discussion thread and then further conversations in the news thread for each other game system every time we get an event. If we have some catch all thread then guaranteed somebody will miss that and start a new one each time and make more work for the mods tidying it all up.
Plus it absolutely doesn't need to be opened in advance every time, when there's a thread that basically constitutes nothing more than a calendar entry, people go off topic, and when people go off topic that makes more work for the mods too.

Indeed, we'd much rather see a thread per event instead of one big jumbled mess with all the headaches that come with those. There are some exceptions obviously, but for big events we'd much rather see a fresh thread for ease of navigation, discussion, etc.
When Adepticon rolls around and ACTUAL news has been revealed it can have a thread of its own. This does not mean however that we're kicking things off with a thread a month in advance with nothing but idle speculation and wishlisting.

That'd be great. The last few event threads have started several days early with a mess of nothing, and the actual reveals pretty much buried after several pages of baseless speculation.
