They look great - my only concern would be the same one that I have for every Contrast paint scheme - without an airbrush, how would I paint my larger models - Dreads and Vehicles - to match?

I've had success using contrast paint on vehicles by stippling it on with a flat-topped drybrush. You don't get the pooling, and the colour matches your infantry.

Please tell us more - preferably with pictures!

I know that Contrast makes for some awesome Marine paint jobs - if you can show me some vehicles painted well with it, I'd be very grateful!

"Painted well" is a bit of stretch perhaps, this is my first proper army, but it aint awful.

It looks good to me!

And that was all contrast, no airbrush?

Please share your tips, tricks and secrets!

Thanks very much.

I use a brush with a flat/rounded tip (Artis Opus D series, but I think a makeup brush would also work) and apply the Contrast paint basically by jabbing, rather than back and forth strokes. Here is a tutorial by someone I got the idea from, I don't think they are using Contrast but the effect/technique is the same:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DFJglQq3ZQ&t=1055s

The paints I used are Gryph Hound Orange, and Black Templar which are both particularly saturated pigments. Contrast paints seem to vary a bit in this respect, Aethermatic Blue for example is much thinner and almost more like a wash.

That's an interesting technique - and something I'll have to consider!

And yes, you're models look great - especially as orange is not the easiest color to work with!

If you do something about those green gems you will have some nice models. Keep the green 100% but either make them glowing or highlight them a bit. Just my tuppence

That's an amazing Alpha legionnaire - I particularly love how effective the scale pattern is, but it's all optical illusion (plus precision and technique).

The orange Raider is also great - I might have to try that out as I've got a pot of Gryph Hound orange and a couple of unpainted raiders sitting around. I'd always wanted to do them in orange, but never found a satisfactory technique.

Really cool, been wanting to use contrast paints more and have been considering painting some metallic imperial fists. What colours would you use to get a metallic yellow?

My armies:
vior'la sept 12k
Erik Morkai's great company 6k
dark mechanicus, the dearth of hope, 8k
rothwyr morwan's company 1,5k
Adeptus custodes 2k
