Hi all
Introduction and about me:
Spoiler:
I played a bit of 40k when I was younger, and I made this account so that I assume I could post about it. Recently I've been getting back into the hobby and I originally made a new account for dakka as I couldn't find the email address for this account but google ended up saving the details of the account for me, which is nice of them, so I figured it was a waste to not use my old account.
A bit of an embarrassing fact about me is that I've never actually fully painted a 1000 point or more army, mainly because there's always another model from a different army that looks way cooler, so I've started this plog to try and motivate myself to finish at least a single thousand point army.

Recently I was online shopping and I found a secondhand lot of necrons for a very good price. 30 Australian dollars got me 24 warriors, a destroyer lord, 5 scarab swarms, a nightbringer shard, a monolith and a few spare lord upgrades. I supplemented this with another more expensive lot of 10 warriors, a ghost ark and a lord on foot, which left me with a (relatively) sizeable amount of models for a very good price.
I spent the next couple of days trying to figure out what to strip the models with. I tried the isopropyl I had sitting around, but it was a very low concentration, so that didn't work for stripping the minis, and every store in my city is out of any kind of alcohol I can use to strip mins, so I moved on to dettol. Not only was it expensive, it made the paint weird and gunky after I rinsed them, and they smelled like dettol forever. Eventually, I tried using simple green, which I didn't know we had in Australia. It took a while to strip them, but it worked in the end.
I settled on a colour scheme, which was the very nice looking scheme by Midwinter Minis, and painted up my first few 'crons.
Here are the first 10:

And here is the first 15 and the lord, who I didn't paint insanely well. He's just a metal lord with some of the destroyer lord arms.

Next up is another 5 warriors and the 5 bases of scarabs, and then I have to decide whether I want a ghost ark or doomsday ark. I'm leaning towards ghost ark so I can repair my main blob of warriors, but as of yet I'm undecided.

Thanks for reading

Looks like a very nice haul for 30 dollars! I like the colour scheme, works well.

What's that on the bases? One of the GW base paints? I haven't tried them yet myself, but it looks pretty good!

A nice start!

I would go for the ghost ark but that's just because i think it looks neater

realism is a lie

I did end up going for the Ghost Ark, both because I think it looks cooler and because it fits better with what I'm trying to do.

Hi again Dakka!
I got some painting done today and yesterday, and I can happily say that I've finished a 500pt army, which is a big thing for me
I painted 5 more warriors, 3 scarab swarms, and the ghost ark, which was a MASSIVE pain, since the person I bought it from had already assembled most of it.
It was definitely different to painting anything I had painted before, but I think it came out quite well.

I originally intended to paint the ghost ark by itself, but my decision to paint the scarabs and warriors ended up being a good one, as it gave me something to do in between the details on the guns.
Here's a shot of everything so far

I recently got a lot of eldar for a very good price, so I may end up painting 500pts of them so that I can play games with my family, but rest assured I have no plans to abandon my necrons
Thanks for reading

I must not have seen this reply the first time around
The bases are just a combination of Citadel Agrellan Earth and Armageddon Dust that I then drybrushed a bit
