Since the previous MonPoc thread is reaching two years old and the other PP thread is about Warcaster, I figured I'd start up a new one to report on PP's monster fighting game.

New Releases



Leviathron has already joined his fellow Tritons, and PP wrote a recent post on using him. Now that Tritons have two monsters and some units, I'm tempted to be dumb and go full Triton ...



Blastikutter should surface imminently, bolstering the Subterranean Uprising. Also my desire to rebase my old Uprising crew.



Gallamaxus is the big bad that comes in the Megaton Mashup expansion, which is basically rules for doing coop fights against an AI monster. Gallamaxus is the first of the Necroscourge faction, and is a fallen version of the new intergalactic dragon faction (Draken Armada) coming soon. Get hype. PP wrote a post about Megaton Mashup too.

Zybanos of Draken Armada! His blurb:

Rastaban of Drakan Armada! His blurb:

No idea on release or abilities.

I think the initial units for the DA are called Coursers and Fusiliers, or at least those are two Protector units being released around when Rasty here is.

Really disappointed Megaton was delayed at a time when Coop/Solo mode is more needed than ever.

took the opportunity of this crisis to paint up Destroyer forces to go with my existing protector collection. Love the new edition and glad to have most of my favorites updated and ready to go again.

If Megaton was out today I likely would have ordered it and a Triton force this morning, thanks to the ongoing 25% + free shipping sale. EDIT: Snap, forgot the sale doesn't technically include new releases

I quite like that for the most part you can just buy monsters and play them once you've got your baseline units. If the sculpt is cool enough I'll buy it, and the two headed guy is getting a coat of gold spray.

It doesn't have anything resembling a consistent scale, but the Statue of Liberty is about 1:1080 its real size and the Tokyo Tower is something like 1:3600.

I think it might work though; particularly the more blocky buildings like the appartments and highrise.

I think you're better off with Troublemaker Games' excellent plastic terrain if you're looking for 6mm Epic stuff.

Yea, no idea really. Meeplemart called it "Smashville Campaign" so I went with that.

Re: MonPoc buildings, I hate how expensive they are. And I hate how rare-yet-required they were in MonPoc 1.0. Building exclusivity combined with being virtually unavailable on the secondary market kept me out of the first edition, full stop. In 2.0 it's more about how much $$ + time you have to put into buying single buildings. So far for me, I don't have either to spare.

Probably not going to get a decent 3D printer for less than the buildings you need anyway.

I find the buildings to be a sticker shock issue more than anything. It really helps that the starter box cardboard buildings are kind of the perfect "anti-building". It's just not obvious or intuitive to place your stuff on your opponent's half of the board to deny them the stuff they brought. You can do a lot better with a trash build than most people think.

It also really helps that few of the buildings are actually worth taking in multiples, and the better buildings are often the ones on the cheaper end of things. For $180 before any discounts (and there are some significant ones out there right now) the following 10 buildings are pretty evergreen:

1 Power Plant
1 Industrial Complex
1 Imperial State Building
1 Mount Terra
1 UCI Industries
2 Downtown Highrise
2 Sun Industries Building

It's definitely a campaign pack. Here's the solicit:

The Smashville campaign box offers players a brand-new way to experience the excitement of the Monsterpocalypse. Instead of each game being a standalone event, Smashville provides rules for linking games together. Players claim a city for their own and use the rewards they earn during games to improve that city. Those improvements then make their fighting force more powerful. The included asset models, and the Construction Yard that builds them, can be used to beef up the defenses of your home city. Watch out, though: the greater you build up your city, the more you’ll have to lose when your opponents ransack it during base defense rounds.

110% not getting my printer for MonPoc Really a win-more situation (my interest is primarily mass printing sweet af 3D sculpts for KOW). Crazy thing is that the printer I want isn't all that more than those $180 in buildings (Cheers for the list tho!)

I assume as much. I will say, one of the things I've appreciated about MonPoc is how worthwhile I've felt my building investment has been. I got most of this stuff pretty early on and I really haven't needed to add or replace much since. It's not a game where I feel like to switch monsters or even factions I need to run out and buy a bunch of additional buildings. True of units to a lesser extent. I really love that I bought an army and for the most part can buy a monster I think looks cool and play it without much of an additional investment.

The dragons will do me in.

Have a Destroyer starter I've been waiting to mess with. Guess it'll be time to build it soon, won't it?

The dragons (other than the first one that’s corrupted) are Protectors.
