So this popped up on Warhammer Community a little while ago. It's since been taken down but seems legit if a bit vague and predictable.

The link worked for good while and pointed to warhammer community sites. So unless it ls prank by one of the guys who can upload stuff to gw's servers it's legit.

It is almost surely legit.
We have yet to see though if this is a new edition, or just the cleanup rulebook with fixes to CP generation and LoS rules that we were expecting.

Uuh that is new edition. If codex revamp is criteria to editions we would be at 3rd edition atm

Ok, let me rephrase that.
It remains to see if they are trying to reinvent the wheel again, or they are stil working on the same basis.
Personally i did like the current state of 8th, it wans't perfect, but we had reached a stability and the balance after the marine nerf was one of the best in the history of 40k. I would hate a truly NEW edition.

I wouldn't. People frequently state rumours as fact. The FAQ is legit and 9th will be announced later but people have been claiming 9th will be coming since early 2018.

Since we know codex, vigilus, pa etc stay valid not particular hard to say how it goes.
And game is hardly best in balance. Not surprising since gw isn't aiming for balance. Bad for profits

Do the point changes mean that everyone with an old codex going to have to buy a new one or will the changes happen durning winter in the up comming CA?

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain. |

The last CA included all points, so i guess that if you only need points, a new codex isn't needed.
A new round of codici will sure come out, but that's old news, we already knew that.

I dont mind a new codex, specialy if it had PA inside too. I just don't want to be forced to buy and index, then 5 months later a CA, and between those or after a codex. there shouldn't be need for more then one set of working rules per edition.

We'll apparently get a new round of Codices, which isn't a massive surprise. Points changes will come either via CA20 or any new Codex I'd expect.

(that or new book to buy...)

Of all the suggested reasons for why the game has imbalances, the moniez is by far the dumbest.
Yes, I'm so sure that that 110 dollar character kit for sisters of battle is utter doggak because profit...somehow. i'm sure Assault marines haven't been any good for at least 3 editions now as some sort of clever ploy. I'm sure release primaris were some of the worst, most overpriced units in the game on launch because that somehow boosted their share price.
I'm sure the castellan, which at 700ish points was actually dirt cheap points per dollar compared to a lot of units in the game(Intercessors are 3ppd, the Castellan is 4) dominating for a really, really long time was a clever money making scheme.
GW does a lot of things to deliberately money grub, screwing with balance they're just not good enough at to make reliably profitable changes.

All codices will be revised.
There goes innovation.
We will get Necrons. And then wait a year for anything that isn't space marines.
No Imperial agents. No alien Auxilia. No Dark Eldar heroes.
Just marines Again. And SW Again. And BA again. And DA Again.
Screw you GW. You could have moved forward. But now we just rewind.

A new codex doesn't have to be good. GK got worse when they went from index to codex. all thanks to GW errata to other armies.
What if GW decides that auras, rule triggers etc got out of hand in 8th ed. And go down on them real hard in 9th ed, starting with nerfing of PA rules for certain armies. That wouldn't be very fun.

Most armies "got worse when they went from index to codex".

If auras and rule triggers 'got out of hand in 8th ed', then it's likely something to be changed in the core rules or with a big FAQ not necessarily a case by case basis. Automatically Appended Next Post: PenitentJake wrote:I had 9 Codices and all but one PA.
