Soon to be useless.

I'm supposed to be happy that they'll only become useless one at a time.

This is the reason I only have a few Physical Codices in 6th-8th: I have played 40k since 1998, I have Paid GW enough for rules and actually "Rage-Quit" for most of 4th when I was told by GW that some of the missing rules text "work like it did in 3rd".

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

I've calmed down a fair bit since yesterday. I'm still prepared for the worst, but so much about how this is actually going to turn out is going to depend on implementation.

If the rules are better...
If only dexes that need it are replaced...
If the new dexes are better than the old...
If Codex releases drive new sculpts to eliminate finecast...
If the digital app lives up to its potential...

And if Crusade lives up to its potential...

Well, if all of that happens, then I will regard the money I spent on 8th as an investment in development, because the new product will be better.

I will continue to be jaded about "Living Edition" hype, and I'll never believe it again, but in the end it might not matter as much as I thought it would.

I'm totally fine with a new csm codex if it's an improvement on what we currently have.

If gw plans a new codex for csm the designers should be locked in a room, strapped to a chair Clockwork Orange style, and forced to read repeated slides of the 3.5 codex while a constant loop of black/death metal plays. Just to, y'know, get them in the right headspace.
