Jealous that Horus is Warmaster

London, UK

9th then. Well, some of those changes I like. But, my horde armies, already at a disadvantage due to LD etc. Look to be extremely vulnerable to Guard Leaf Blower, Rouboute Castle, Tau Gunline.

I hope Tyranid, Ork and to some extent Guard/Chaos cultists get some horde type bonuses as well.

Have we seen a new c'tan shard? There's one in the Silent King video but my impression was that it was part of the King's model, basically to give him casting.

in that big fuzzy picture between the new monolith and the silent king that thing with wings - I have a hunch that is a new c'tan shard.

In the picture of pixelated doom, the thing with wings between the throne and monolith is likely a c'tan.

Which makes no sense. Pre-Gathering Storm Cassius was pushing 400, which is on the very high end of the scale for Ultramarines. If it was post Gathering Storm he'd be close to 600 which is almost unheard of outside of Blood Angels and Space Wolves bloodlines.

Also, isn’t that the wrong side of his face melted off? I mean, unless crossing the Rubicon Primaris somehow fixed his face then he got in another, completely unrelated, acid-based industrial accident…

There is speculation that the big winged model in the full scale army picture is a new C'tan shard. I agree with this, as it doesn't really match anything else.

I think he’s referring to the flying thing in the center of that leaked, pixelated image. I am of the same opinion, could definitely be a (very) redesigned Shard of the Nightbringer, or possibly even a new shard entirely.

Not sure which model your refering to as Knight sized but I'm not sure it actually is, the weird floaty things on spindle legs actually look like new tomb spiders, given the new destroyers apparently are one build of the 3 leg kit

The big fuzzy picture in the second post. To the left of the new monolith is a knight sized spider walker - I assume it's the same thing that was shown at the very end of the trailer. The monolith is new, to the right of the monolith looks like a c'tan with wings, to the right of him is the silent king. Below the big walker is a destroyer without a green rod.

I dont think that's as big as GW's potato camera makes it look as the other only only looks like 3/4 times the size of the warrior infront of it and the warriors look smaller the the primaris marines in the image. It looks like it's more likely armiger sized rather full knight size.

Do you think GW will ever slow down on Space Marine releases?

They had more than 2x the next faction to get models... its ridiculous.

Granted they are boomed, perhaps because of it? But it feels like such a waste.

Imagine the much better boxes we can have with say..

Dark Elves vs Guard
Eldar vs Necrons
Orks vs Tau

Rather than

Dark Elves vs Marines
Orks vs Marines
Necrons vs Marines

Starter boxes will always have Marines because Marines make up like 60% of all army sales (rough spitball number, point is they are SUPER popular). And we saw Eldar vs Dark Eldar and two flavors of Daemons in boxes just last year and they were basically ignored by most of the player base. It just doesn't work as a sales model.

And they have slowed down with Marines (last big release was Shadowspear at the end of last year) but a new edition means a new starter and it looks like said new starter is melee Marine focused.

If you include marines in 80% of your starter boxes obviously they will be the majority of the sales....???

Yes we saw an eldar vs Dark Eldar box.. which is categorically overpriced and included super old models? Not really fair to compare this?

edit: also.. Marines have received more than double NEW models relative to the 2nd highest. So again... new models sell the model, marines received the most... no duh they sell the most?

Maybe, I don't know.. It looks like it's on the same plane as the monolith. So perspective makes it slightly less tall than a monolith.. It's too grainy to tell it may not be knight sized but I think it's bigger than an armiger.

What do you mean downside of leadership? I can't remeber a game in 8th where we have ever rolled a Ld test it's either unfailable, upassable or Avoided outright.

Roubote Castle hasn't been a thing for over a year and Tau gunlines gain very little form the 9th changes as they dont tend to use explosives and the detachment changes hurt them hard due to the stupid commanger rule.

I was going by the base size, it looks about those base sizes judging by a quick comparison on my wip table.
Its Taller than an armiger but given 70%of the model is empty space I'd expect it to be armiger class at heaviest more likely lighter.
Also Necron players tiu have my sympathy as I thing transporting these is going to be even worse as they look soo spindley

They called out the frag missile as an example, I think it's more likely they'll get an extra D6 if the target unit is over 10 models. Or just do a flat 6/max shots.

I can't help but wonder why GW decided to hype this as huge preview yet reveal so little. They had the opportunity to give us high-resolution first look at the good stuff, now we have to rely on potato pics for couple of days. I am more excited about the potato pics than actual preview.

The contents of that starter box looks amazing to me - don't really need more Warriors (unless they also update the rules to make them useful), but all the other Necrons look great.

And for the marine side - they beg to be painted like Black Templars, maybe finally I get around to making a Primaris army.

The cartoon preview of the new rules was interesting. Looks like changes to core rules as well as the rules for matched and narrative play. The bit about big guns having more effect on hordes makes some of the Astra Militarum doctrines/strats in The Greater Good make sense (I think...Type weapons) Allowing vehicles to shoot from close combat (perhaps with rules like AOS) seems a good idea. Improved terrain rules sounds appealing - maybe bringing some concepts from Apocalypse?

I am somewhat excited about what he says about everyone starting with more CP. I am hoping that you get a fixed number for the game points size - would make Elite armies that rely on Strats more playable without tacking on Troops for CP's sake. AM could still take a Knight, for instance, but they pay from their CP pool. Cool. A Knight army could bring an AM battalion to have board presence but would sacrifice CPs to do so. Cool. I think?

The typical usuals here do make me crack up.
Last reveal - “we want confirmation of 9th or its boring and pointless”

9th now announced and we get “I was expecting more”

Funny how their expectations are finally met but within a week or so they have shifted goal posts by another mile.

Mini wise this has no impact on me as I don’t play either army.
Nice to see more CGI work though.
If 9th has indeed fixed CP, flyers and terrain then that’s a big win for me.

On the steam they indicated that Blast weapons will get maximum attacks against units of large infantry. We will have to wait to see what weapons count as Blast weapons and what a large unit is defined as.

Because they've got to stretch this out for possibly a month or more longer than they expected. Don't forget there's 2 full armies, a 40K expansion book and box and a slew of other things all waiting in line before this new edition. That's before you factor in 2 months of closed factory time and reduced staffing levels. I wouldn't blame GW, blame Corona for making a mess of things. GW likely wanted to show everything originally, holding back a little; instead they are having to string these things out so that they can keep us entertained for weeks to months until they've time and production to actually deliver.

It's exactly the same as how they broke up the earlier major reveals into multiple blocks.

I found the preview to be completely underwhelming.

The little CGI movie was ok but pretty lame all in, it just looks like a computer game cutscene from 10+ years ago. When you compare the animation and vibe to the likes of Astartes it kinda makes me sad that GW official can't produce stuff with anywhere near as much atmosphere.

The 9 things video was lame. Who is this directed at?

The models on show look REALLY underwhelming. Poor show.

Just to clarrify as I have seen a few people say this, it's not vehicals they specifically call out tanks and they just say shoot while in combat, not necessarily out of combat. People seem to be taking 1+1 and arriving at 6. Tanks seems to be a deliberate choice as the single out landraiders and leman russes. I suspect its just the guard superheavy wording is going to be given to most battle tanks ie get charged fine shoot the unit that's beating up your tank.

My question is what defines a "horde". 10 models? 20 models? More than that? Can you get around this new rule with MSU? Does the size of the models themselves matter, or will 20 rubrics get hit as hard by blasts as 20 orks? Not making a judgement call on which answer to any of these questions is the "right" one but there's a lot of stuff we have no idea on here.

That’s a rabbit hole you really want to avoid.
Some will state something completely stupid while others will give an honest answer, only to dismiss it if that ever does become a reality.
