A £5 voucher for use on the Games Workshop website will be arriving in your inbox next week.
Looks like they didn't make enough freebies to go with all the pre-orders, although i will probably find the voucher more useful.
Personally I think those coins are worth more than £5 so just a £5 voucher for a mistake they made isn't enough I think
They had big disclaimers on it, like the actual worth was 0 and while supplies last. Getting a voucher for nothing (that had fair warning) more than makes up for a throwaway bonus tchotchke.

The Chrome dinosaur game does work from within the 40K app though.
Which makes it useless anywhere you can't get a good internet connection. Brilliant design. Great for us hillbillies.

I just turned off all data and wifi on my phone.

Opened app, and opened up datasheets on a codex I had not opened before with no issues.

Glad that you are not perturbed by the voucher offer, think I would prefer that too. It seems like a fair way to deal with the allocation oversight.
My pre-order of Engine War was dispatched on Friday of release, and got to me in Coventry on the Tuesday, I think.

The fanatical loyalty people have to the GW brand is often cult-like. I don't know if it's pure Sunk Cost Fallacy in action or some kind of financial fetishism at work. The app could literally break your phone and people would still defend them for it, it's absurd.

Its inbuilt into the nerd community at this point to accepting half finished products. Look at videos games. Pay $60 and eventually in a year or two you will get the game you paid for is a standard business model.

As someone who has excused a lot of GW stuff in the past I can only say this: The app is not worth the money and was most likely put together by an intern using off the shelf solutions. Then a marketing guy saw it and heard a "ka-ching!" sound in the back of their mind.

You mean like when Warroom would put a massive strain on your phone's battery and players were still clamoring for it to be made mandatory at events, even with events stipulating you auto-lost if your device died during a game? Fanatical Brand Loyalty is not a uniquely GW thing.

Search function also worked.
Just opened it off with wifi off and it opened a page saying "Sign in or Register" (I had previously signed in). Unable to proceed any further without data.
(Maybe staying signed in is a subscriber-only feature - I'm using the free version.)

Turned off wi-fi and data, no sign-in required, have sub. Yeah, having the sub probably keeps you signed in.

Warroom was never a thing among the WM/H community here is still is treated as nice to have and not more
while I remember people going bonkers because the X-Wing App did not work perfect on release day

You were definitely not on the official forums, then.

The Vanguard stuff or the Indomitus stuff? The Indomitus models are already allowed via the Indomitus booklet FAQ on Warhammer Community.

Ugh, the Star Wars app. I STILL hate that thing, but since the cards no longer have the add-on symbols or points cost...gotta get it somehow. :(

Launchbay Next is what everyone around here uses for X-Wing. Vastly superior to the official app, which is now being replaced at some point.
I think the reason we're not seeing quite as much backlash against the 40k app is because it's had a low-key release and also expectations were very low after the announcement of its features. So far it looks like a textbook example of something built by the lowest bidder in the shortest space of time possible.

iOS users, it’s arriving in the next day or so…
So assume tomorrow, monday at latest
they've probably submitted it to apple, but whether they'll got fast or slow on vetting you never can tell (according to folk I know who do app development)

this is a possibility, people just don't care or a not interested enough as Battlescribe is still there and doing a better job

Also because atm pretty much everything of sense is behind paywall. I for example won't have any use of it before necron codex comes(if you can read bought codex's stuff via app without subscription) or once army building feature comes at which point I'll try it.
ATM it's hard for me to critique it since all it is basically is pdf of main rules that I can use app for! It's such a neutral thing I find it hard to be either excited or annoyed.
Not getting my box now, it seems. My store mailed me that blabla they ordered enough and they just didn't get enough copies in this shipment and they will totally get delivered more/the rest...at some point in time I was #10 out of 15 sets, the Friday before preorders. I hope they give a definite statement before the M2O window closes.I won't care too much if I can get it at all, be it in a week or three montha.
Looking for a Skaven Doomwheel banner to repair my Nurgle knights.
Funny typoes in app it seems. Eldar has weapon that has range of 122(writer forgot to press shift so it's 122 range...but with what scale? inches? mm? micro meter?-) ). Death jester has meanwhile weapon that has S 65! Well people have been complaining S/T scales aren't used enough
Super obvious this thing was hugely behind schedule, not remotely ready for prime time, but they pushed it out anyway in order to start collecting monthly fees from people.

Honestly, this looks exactly like a software you order from a contractor these days. If you specify that stratagems should be sorted alphabetically, you get them that way - and not divided by army, because the contractor doesn't get paid for extra work, only for what you specify
But it's funny how everyone disagreed when I speculated that their app would look exactly as it does now

7 Ork facts people always get wrong: Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other. A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot. Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests. Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books. Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor. Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers. Orks do not have the power of believe.

but this is the official App, the one main advantage over BS is that there are no mistakes and everything is true
so those are not typos, everything else is wrong /s
