Definitely a mistake to make the books available in October instead of right now.
People won’t be building armies with defunct books or possibly buying things knowing now that there is a new book months away and things will potentially change.
I understand The pandemic changes things. But they really should have pushed for all this to be launched at once.

As a Dark Angel player I am quite happy to see Dark Angels rolled up into the core SM codex. Ignoring some unique units - Deathwing Termies do not count in my mind in regards to this - I think it will serve DA better to be synced up with their brethren. It's what was already happening with the PA book and it made playing DA much more enjoyable.

I imagine we'll start to see GW clean house and remove old resin units that weren't selling much and move them to Legends in the coming year. Going to be an interesting time as we see the Primaris future being shaped in front of us.

I don't want to assemble the models until I know what the full options are. (Biker and Assault Primaris sergeants are better to get some melee weapon options in the codex.)

Don't they get their books printed in China? Possibly they will be so late because of corona related delays.

Wondering what that ork could be. A Big 'Un perhaps?

They also know people will have finite budget for this; so spacing out the releases let’s them better Phase the hype across people’s disposable income.

Also they hava a load of delayed stuff. Indomitus they couldn't hold back, but the rest is likely seeing gw reset the release rate. There are still 2 aos armies and at leat one or two necromunda big releases.

Strange that they would delay the codex, but at the same time it is understandable.

Just as likely to be their own backlog. Lots of stuff out of stock (which needs production time) plus AoS, Underworlds, Necromunda, etc releases that have been swamped under 40k.
Assuming October wasn't the original schedule anyway.

Build and paint the other 9 intercessors and 2 bikes? I mean you'd have to convert them anyway even if they did get a different loadout option.

Add 3" to the range characteristic of ranged weapons(excluding something) that models with this code are equipped with.
Each time a model with this code makes a ranged attack that targets a model within half range, the armour penetration characteristic of that attack is improved by 1.
When the protocol of the vengeful stars is used you get both command protocols instead of one.

NOVOKH: AWAKENED BY MURDER
Add 1" to charge rolls made for units with this code.
Each time a model with tthis code makes a melee attack, if the model has made a charge move, was charged, or performed a heroic intervention this turn, improve the armour penetration characteristic of this attack by 1.
When the protocol of the hungry void is used you get both command protocols instead of one.

NEPHREKH: TRANSLOCATION BEAMS
Models with this code have a 6+ invulnerable save.
Each time a unit witth this code advances, it can translocate. If it does, do not make an advance roll for it. Instead, until the end of ttthe phase, add 6" to the move characteristic of the models in that unit. If a model translocated, until the end of the turn, models in that unit cannot shoot.
Each time a unit with this code falls back or translocates, until the end of tthe phase, models in that unit can move over models and terrain as if they were not there.
When the protocol of the sudden storm is used you get both command protocols instead of one.

NIHILAKH: AGGRESSIVELY TERRITORIAL
Units with this code have the objective secured ability as in the core book. If a model in such a unit already has this ability, that model counts as one additional model when dettermining control of an objective marker.
Each time an attack with an armour penetration characteristic of -1 is allocated to a model with this code, if that model's unit is wholly within its controller's deployment zone, that attack has an armour penetration characteristic of 0 instead.
When the protocol of the eternal guardian is used you get both command protocols instead of one.

SZAREKHAN: UNCANNY ARTIFICERS
Each time a model witth this code would take a wound as the result of a mortal wound, roll one D6, on a 5+ that wound is ignored.
Each time a unitt with this code is selected to shoot or fight, you can re-roll one wound roll when making that unit's attacls.
When the protocol of the undying legions is used you get both command protocols instead of one.

SAUTEKH: RELENTLESS ADVANCE
Each time a morale test is ttaken for a unit with this code, you can re-roll that test.
Instead of following the normal rules for rapid fire weapons, models with this code shooting rapid-fire weapons make double the number of attacks if the shooting model's target is within 18".
When the protocol of the conquering tyrant is used you get both command protocols instead of one.

Thank you very much for this! I’m going Szarekhan, so I’m glad to see they look somewhat viable.

I'm impressed

Time to party like it's 1999!

It's an old argument, GW wants to sell marines and 'marines are marines paint them any color you want' is just not a lucrative as making each chapter a legend with its own unique units and rules.

So sell just one Blood Angel book with everything, or sell a Marine book and BA bonus book...

The nice thing is by changing their minds they get to sell you 3 books within 3 years

The Warhammer 40,000 App is now available on Apple...

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/07/25/warhammer-40000-app-arrives-on-ios/

It’s going to be a game-changer and, as we know, there are more updates already on the way, starting with Battle Forge, an incredible tool that will help you plan your Battle-forged armies. That first update is due to drop in August with more regular updates planned after that to keep making the app a better and better tool for Warhammer 40,000 fans.

4th War. The 3rd was Ghaz: The Return of the Revenge.

Nah. We had 1st Ghaz war, 2nd Ghaz war, then maybe this one. Definitely no others. People would remember.

I am sure there would be a record of it somewhere or survivors who remember such a war.

IIRC the first war was called the Second War for Armageddon because a scribe accidentally hit "I" twice and for no other reason at all.

I'm sorry, Mr. Inquisitor, sir. That was surely a bad dream I had due to some spoiled corpse starch. There was no First War for Armageddon. I know the Administratum decided to start with the Second because first wars are boring.

Anyway, the new captain seems to be wearing gravis armour and it is a bit hard to tell what the gun is. He also seems to have a sword. I am not super exited about the model itself, but I'm exited about getting more gravis captain weapon options. I really hope that the rules will allow taking a fist and the new gun, as I really want to convert Tor Garadon to represent such a loadout.

Every reference to the 2nd, 3rd or 4th war for Armageddon should definitely start with a new reason they started counting with 2 which totally contradicts the last reason given.

The Second War for Armageddon got its name from the Planetary Cardinal's statement that the 'first war' is always the war against temptation in our souls.

The Second War for Armageddon was named for General Roland Arthurian the Second's War for Armageddon, the general who led the initial resistance. Unfortunately later scholars mistook his title for the number of the war.

The Second War for Armageddon was misnamed when a scribe-servitor's stylus malfunctioned causing it to repeat the letter I...

The Second War for Armageddon was so named to prevent confusion with the war against the nomad raiders. Ruins of their prison camps can still be found in the wastes...

So if SM and Necrons aren't coming till October, what's GW doing for the next 2 months? I guess trickling out the new models before their rules release? Or just a lot of AoS?
