life.

1 overlord

1 Lord

2 Cryptek

1 anrakyr the traveller

20 warriors (current version not new, obviously)

15 immortals with gauss blasters

5 lychguard with warscythes

$100

Is this a good deal? On base value it looks ok, but i want to be sure.

I'm picking this up essentially to form the base and paint test for my eventual half of the new starter box.

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

Depends really on what you consider to be valuable.

Are you basing value on units that are very competitive? State of models themselves at point of purchase? Models per dollar?

On a model per dollar basis, then yes, i'd consider this to be an absolute bargain. 40 troops and 5 HQ for $100 would be a good deal for i'd think just about any army.

Are you paying less than retail?
Are you paying less than retail with whatever the standard allowed discount is applied?

If yes, then deal. If not, no.

Or are you asking wether you've chosen wisely concerning units/models? Afterall, units & models you don't like/won't use aren't a deal at any price (except free, & even then they use up storage space)....
But you're the only one who can determine this answer.

On the one hand, its a good price for those models (its less than a third of the price of those kits). If they're in good condition, of course.

On the other hand... right now (this could change in two months or less), none of those units are great choices. Tesla immortals are better, and warriors and lychguard with warscythes aren't really worth putting on the table.

I'm picking this up essentially to form the base and paint test for my eventual half of the new starter box.

Its complete overkill for a paint test. A handful of warriors will do that job, and are probably available for peanuts.

----

On the other hand, given the absurd cost for characters, it rivals GW's price just for the overlord, lord and crypteks. And you'll probably use at least two of those. Well, maybe. A cryptek at least.

But with the new book & edition, a command barge, destroyer lord, and/or Skorpekh lord may all be better choices than foot overlord or lord. In fact, that wouldn't be surprising at all.

Really, its a good deal only if you consider real currency values vs the price of GW kits. Its huge discount vs the retail price, but none of those things would be at the top of my list to actually include in an army. It's much less of a good deal if its all going to sit on a shelf.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

no it would all get used. i use everything i paint. most times regardless of whether it is the "good" choice or not. The local meta is very casual. except for the one guy who runs custodes.

I collect:

Stormcast eternals

seems a good deal, I'm guessing you're getting a "THEY'RE CHANGING NECRONS MY OLD STUFF IS WORTHLESS!" panic sale

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Partly. On one hand he's fed up with the continual changes and need to buy more books. On the other hand his gaming buddies have moved on from 40k and he doesn't want to deal with going to a game store.

He has something like 60 crypteks, amongst everything else. Supposedly this was a tactic in 5th edition?
