I am looking for a specific piece of old 40K art as reference for a conversion project.
Hours on various search engines have failed to uncover it for me.
What I am looking for is, AFAIK; the *ONLY* depiction of a specific tank, which for *some reason* I have this inkling may have been called the Herculea or Herakles armoured transport. It looks like a baneblade/fellblade variant, but with a low dome in place of the main turret. Two sponson complexes, per-side with the then-standard three-angle, three-bolter arrangement and the cupola for the Lascannon up top. And then another of these small turrets on the bow. So main turrets were present
The art itself I recall as depicting this tank, in Ultramarine blue, IIRC inthe lower right corner of a large painted work; this would have been a full-page splash or a 2-page spread, I think. The overall scene was at least one-half of a typically massive early 40K/Epic battle of the likes that used to appear at least on in every book; the suggestion of tens of thousands of soldiers on each side, titans, tanks, ect.
In the centre or displayed prominently was a descending assault marine deploying from, I *think* some kind of dropship. Vaugely possibel this was actually one of those odd RT-Era Imperial Guard jump-troops, but I think it was an assault marine.
I recall it as a full-colour painting, but may also have been used or shown in halves and in black and white when re-used.
Thanks for your time.
I am looking for a more old-hammer alternative to the gorgon and other high-capacity infantry transports and I'd like to convert one from a baneblade or similar.
Thank you once again.

I think I know the one you mean, I can't lay hands on a PDF right now, but see if you can download a PDF of the first edition Epic Space Marine rulebook- if it's not there then check Codex Titanic's from the same (late 80's era).
Assuming I'm not completely wrong about what it is you're after, at least..

Thank you! Great to know I am less likely to be nuts.
I wanted to look at the epic books, but I am finding they are anightmare to track down in any format. WTH? I thought that game was huge back in the day?

They were- well, they were mainline GW games, so they got a good chunk of White Dwarf space, as much as 40k or fantasi. I'm not sure how to get the pic out of the PDF, so let me suggest Scribd as a site to download the rulebook from

Depends what version of software you're running.
I am on Windows 7 now and updated adobe some time ago; so I am now using snipping tool. It's...okay. But I preferred when this was a utility built into other programs. it was much easier to use that way.
On mac; no clue.

From the description, I’m thinking it may be from one of the Visions of Heresy books?

Great find Fictional! The source is mentioned as White Dwarf 120, pp12-13. It does look like a command or transport variant.

The description matches a few of the OPs requirements, domed vehicle, "Hercules or Herakles", assault marine, Ultramarines, and it might be a partial image.
