@queen_annes_revenge Look at that sweet light effect! I am jelly. Super detailed shield too!

Some progress of mine.
Each body part painted prior to gluing for ease of brush access.
But wanted arms to be together with the torso during assembly, so I can play with dynamic poses.

This month's theme was a bit tricky for me, since I don't have any army-scale projects on the go, and I was struggling to find enthusiasm for the figures I picked. However I'm happy enough with how they're progressing to throw my hat into the ring again.

Proof Picture...

... and a WIP.

@Mothsniper Loving those Wyches, they look great so far!

@queen_annes_revenge Not a big fan of that particular model, but you've done an awesome job on it so far. I'm guessing from the orange OSL that there'll be some kind of flaming light source on the base?

So there is a Tallarn showdown this month. Or is that a tallarn contest?

Finished my entry, will take formal pics tomorrow. Not quite record speed, as I did September’18’s “pick up the pace” as a technical challenge, and did that in 9 days. Still, zippy.

Nice work everyone. Looks to be another great month.

You forget, it’s quite simple; Tallarn are awesome!

All sorts of Dune quotes could be appropriate for that showdown.

Finished:

Quite happy with how these guys turned out. I’d done a couple of their squad mates in this scheme to test, but this is the first time I’d sat down and batch painted a squad of them. I think there is one guy from the full kit in there, the rest are from the monobuild SC box. One perk of the fixed builds is that it lets you get the poses down better.

Let's see what comes from these. My Carchadon kitbashs for kill team. They'll surely be able to get the objective, tear enemies to pieces and scatter them around as a warning for others who might be coming.

Finished! finally. Took waaaaay longer than i expected, but it was fun!
Inspiration for basing, came from (The Salt Pits of Hoxxes), and a bit from (Planet Crait).

Wyches turned out much more colorful than the Kabalites, and i think I like that.

I'm basically done with mine thanks to a few unexpected and extended sessions. I'll hold off on taking pics for now with how long we still have to go, might go back over and do some touch ups later on.

Mothsniper those wyches are pure gold! Love the colors.

I found a suitable entry after all.
Who better to capture an objective than a bunch of your everyday kriegsmen, and who better to hold it than two of them with an autocannon.

Just the one team, as I only have one of them. Bought it for a display project, but it never made the final version. Now is as good time as any to finally paint it.

Proof pic:

And a couple of WIP shots from today as well:

Now just let them dry and then to put some varnish on. I fear how the pigmenta will react to varnish... Maybe I'll try some sray varnish. Ill also take more and better pictures later, before the varnish.

Still a ton of work to do. Base colors and a couple bits have been finished but I still need to shade, highlight, effects and color transitions. Sooooo muuuuch woodwork! C&c welcome as usual

Two kriegsmen and an autocannon, sounds like an into line to a WWXVIIII film.
For decoration I ran into these jewelers glass beads, look like large caliber shells.
Found em at local dollar and hobby store.

Varnish should not mess with the pigment. It may just darken it. Do a test to be sure

Looking good!
For cyber mastiff, how does 2-color reflective imitation sound?

I like simple but effective color gradient on the guns, going to echo that else where?
How did you do those eyes so perfectly?!

Sounds like a good idea. Luckily the kit came with some resin shells, but for other projects something like those seem to work really well!

Quick update. I have built and primed the five infiltrators, painted 1! (Below.)

Will need to base it as well. Quite happy with this. Not as great as some of the efforts here, but a step above some of my first models.

Spacewolf blue gray with yellow color scheme never really clicked with me. Man, I like this warm gray with the yellow combo though!

I'm planning on doing some gradients on the right shoulder. I find the space wolf colors to be a bit boring when left in a simple gradient like they are. Might airbrush the color transition this time... not sure.
As to the eyes... one word. Retardant. If you don't use any kind of paint retardant your paint will dry before it ever hits the model especially for eyes.

Thanks Mothsniper. It started as a way to differentiate the primaris units in my SW army from the old guard. I've really enjoyed painting this scheme though.

My !finished! entry is below!

First time completing something for a Dakka contest. First time creating fake snow for the base. Not as great as some of the stuff in this thread, but I'm happy with it, as it's a big improvement over my first few models!

Another way to tackle eyes is to use a bigger brush than you'd think, but spend time getting a good point on it. More paint will be held in the bristles, meaning that it won't dry out on you.
