So 9th ed is just around the corner and we have just seen some (in my opinion) amazing new necron sculpts and of course inevitably new space marines also. Of course we have no idea what the next codices and new model releases in 9th, after necrons and space marines, are going to be, but we can still hope for specific stuff we care to see updated.

I don't play them myself, but what I'd like to see the most is first, new infantry kits for the different imperial guard regiments and second, all eldar aspect warriors except banshees updated and in plastic. Those factions deserve it the most I think. Oh yeah, and some new stuff for tyranids....those guys haven't gotten anything in quite long time. Something like a new and updated kit for genestealers would be nice.
Since I'm a custodes fanboy, I'd like to see some new kits for them like the hetaeron guard, but to be honest their model range is pretty decent as it is (when also considering forgeworld) so that's rather unlikely. Also I'd like to see some new stuff for harlequins, just because their range is so limited.

What are the model releases you want to see the most in 9th?

Well, Necrons would have been number 1 on my list, so I'm pretty happy there!


I'd like my Nids to get some more love. I'd like to see a plastic Lictor and a dual Pyrovore/Biovore kit at the very least. Most of our plastic models hold up very well, but I wouldn't mind seeing some of the older models like gaunts getting refreshed.

Thousand sons, while being very new, really need some more models to expand the range.

I'm going to be greedy:

Mandrakes and Grotesques in plastic.

Archon/Succubus on bike.

Trueborn and Bloodbrides.

Reaper and Tantalus in plastic.

'Knight-sized' Mega Taloi.

Nids, Dark Eldar, Necrons (hooray), Harlequins and Craftworld Eldar would be my personal priority list.

Harlequins could really use a release wave like the GSC got recently - give them a bunch of fun "pseudo-unique" characters that do cool distinctive stuff but don't get tied to a particular subfaction, and then a couple of specialist units to make them feel a bit more fleshed out. GSC feel like a full, complete army at this point, as do Admech, so let's bring the third 7th ed era minifaction up to par.

CWE and Nids have some of the oldest, worst looking models in the game, so could use a refresher on some lore-classic units like Lictors, Aspect Warriors, Guardians and Genestealers.

Dark Eldar have just continuously lost units over the editions and DESPERATELY need a refresh to make their characters more interesting. They have among the coolest kits for specailized infantry in the game, and the worst characters of any faction hands-down, they're just so so dull and limiting. Even half as many character models as the average random "well it's been 2 months we need to have a new primaris wave" could completely change the ball game for dark eldar. Bring back Vect as a Raider+Extra Sprue necron command barge style, definecast Lelith and Urien, and make a biker Archon/Hoverboard Succubus.

- Shining Spears upgrade kit for the new Jetbikes. Should be a simple thing - not sure whether I'd include a Phoenix Lord or not, tbh.
- Guardian and Gaunt refresh/update, to remove some of the fiddlier assembly elements, such as the two-part legs and heads.
- 3 box (Infantry, Command, Heavy Weapon) set for a non-Cadian/Catachan IG regiment.
- A Lt.-tier character for each of the three branches of DE. Bonus points for giving a mobile option to each branch as well, even if they don't all get the same options - jetbike for Kabal, board for Wych, wings for Haemonculi, perhaps?
- Review factions and introduce a plastic SH if appropriate - Tyranids are a good shout for a plastic Hierodule, for example, but Harlequins, Custodes, etc probably don't need one.
- Plastic Noise Marines and refreshed plastic Beserkers, even if not part of a EC/WE release.
- Longer term, look at replacing Finecast with plastic kits. In some cases I'd prefer metal to be an option, but GW don't seem to be keen on that...

Well, I usually play anti-cyclically.
So no Necrons for me right now and also no new models atm.
SM are no longer on my list (up to GK) - too boring and the models just tin cans too simple to paint.
I just have some backlog such as vibrocannons.

Well, with necrons getting a giant pile of new kits, my priority would be eldar and tyranids.

Eldar need a lot of remakes in plastic. It isn't even vaguely funny anymore. They could also get to raid some ancient armories now that all sorts of natural enemies (chaos, necrons) are out in force. Get the guardians some ranged weapons, aye?

Dark elder. Fine cast to plastic, obviously. I don't have the special character fetish, so pass on all of that.
I would suggest moving the plastic ur-ghouls from court to beast masters and doing a unit or two more that focuses on herding terrible denizens of the dark city/web way/haemonculus experiments into battle

At least a unit or two for each subfaction, and no I don't mean the boring 'elite' versions of the basic troops.

Would love to see a nearly full range revamp for craft worlds, expand all the mini factions - custodes and quins.

After that I think tsons need some love in their range as well.

Eldar and Tyranids needs all their troops and some of their elites to be redrawn.

Guards troops could use a resculpt as well.

Khorne SM should be expanded ala deathguard / T sons.

Aside from thata i feel most other factions got some minimal amount of love that allows them to remain current.

Also, i think GK and custodes should be written off from 40K.

Tyranids could use lictors & bio/pyrovores redone and a LoW figure.

Eldar need redone aspects.

I'd like to see new units for IG - rough riders and possibly bikers, dog handlers and maybe a redesign of the classic Chimera.

New Guard infantry squads, with all possible weapon options and maybe the possibility to kit them out as different regiments.

I seem to be in the minority that I don't mind the current plastic Catachans that much. But I'd really like to see Cadians get a redesign, especially the helmet. Ditch the armour and just have them in uniforms or maybe a flak jacket.

Everything that's 20+ years old.

Then everything that's 15+ years old.

Then everything finecast.

Then we can start spot-fixing.

Hey hey hey now, you JUST got a great harlequin model, you can't ask for more. One harlequin release per edition is already more than we deserve.

Each to their own, but I'd personally rather see fine cast get replaced before any plastic kits get redone.

Tyranids... got nothing new in last 6 years... i would really like a LoW in plastic for Nids one i could actually use in a semi competetive game.

Though I'd say the lictor kit could easily be lictor/deathleaper duel kit. I'm honestly surprise that plastic lictor and biovore duel kits with 3 models in a kit hasn't come out yet.

A new Lord of War would be fantastic. AFter that tyranids have mostly everything in a good place. Perhaps give us a dedicated Shrike model (not just warrior with wings give it its own unique sculpt)

All of the above would really benefit from updated rules, Drukhari in particular. The lack of options within the Drukhari codex (especially if focusing on one of the three subfactions) really stings.

ORKS

- Plastic Warboss with all the options
- Big Mek with KFF
- New Mad Dok Grotsnik
- Plastic Deffkoptas with all the options
- Named Warboss, especially a biker (Wazzdakka?) and/or a megarmored (Nadzreg?) one
- Named psyker (Zogwort?)

SPACE WOLVES

- None! I can't stand primaris and I'll never buy any of them. Don't need anything else.

A plastic Deffkopta kit with weapon options is a good shout - we've only been waiting on one since, what, 4th edition?

And what's wrong with our current Mad Dok Grotsnik? Seems a perfectly pleasant fellow on here, helps defeat scalpers, etc...

Plastic aspect warriors, because the Eldar players are the most prolific Vinters in 40k.
