Hello.

I have just finished sculpting a Canoness model for my Sororitas army, and I would like to share its file and get some feedback from all of you.

And If you want to print the model, here is the STL file: http://shorturl.at/vzKO5

Thanks.

That is a very nice looking model. You are very talented.

I like it a bunch - very well done!

I like that you have set it up on a sprue - do you plan on any different/options for arms etc?

That is a really nice job. Do you have it printed out? I'd be very interested in seeing how it came out.

Unfortunately not yet, as it takes ages for Shapeway to print and deliver it (the current waiting time is of almost a full month).

But if you're curious, this is the file's setup, which should work without any issues (although may need some final minor cleaning), and it is also quite cheap for its size:

I am attempting to print this today. If it doesn't end in disaster I'll try to post some images. Beautiful model though setting up the supports was an adventure.

There's something off to me about the way the cloth on that model is flowing but everything else looks top notch to me. If I had access to a printer I'd print that.

I agree. I think it's because the model is static, but the material is showing a lot of movement (particularly on the bottom on the tabbard).

Partial success. The backpack failed because I am still bad at orientating big flat areas and supports, but the rest came out great. I did scale down the STL to 80% of its original size though as that seemed more in line with the actual models. Going back to 100% would add a few mms to her height but that might make her look too tall compared to others. Great model but the shoulders are noticeably smaller than the plastics, though that really isn't a major issue, just paint it ornate and call it artificer armor.

Images attached, but hard to show detail due to translucent resin.
EDIT: Now with primed images. In person the print lines are not apparent to the eye.

The model is totally awesome, if I may critique something I'm not convinced about her heels, they look too unpractical for a soldier that is fighting a war. But other than that tiny detail the model is fantastic and thank you for giving her a normal base. I can't stand scenic bases and GW has this silly obsession on putting every character onto something like ruins or whatever to make them taller.

I might attempt another print today to sort out a backpack for her. As well as another complete print since the back of the head also lost detail in my initial print.

If anyone else prints this on a resin printer I would be interested to see your support setup if you can upload your supported STL.

2nd print turned out better than the first. Had two backpacks setup at different orientations and the one at 45 degrees worked best. The other was vertical but only slightly failed in a manner that was still usable so that went on the first print. Back of the head held a little more detail but would probably do with stronger supports, though that area is somewhat obscured anyway so not a big deal.

Images attached. The first print is on the greenish base. Despite what it looks like in the image no print lines are visible IRL except for on the backpack for some reason. Pack is slightly different to STL as I had Prusa slicer bits it and it removed the purity seal, and didn't want to have to stuff around getting that oriented on there.

Still really nice model and definitely worth it for about half a dollarydoo of resin and 4 hours of print time each.

Looking good. My criticisms are:

Lose the high heels. Real SOB wear boots.
She is missing her chaplet. Adding one will sell the model more.
Any change to get he out of the locked legs would be great also.

Alright I finished painting mine and my feedback is that it is a great model overall but some detail is either too shallow to really show up on the print effectively which is a pity. Mostly it is various trim like on the little pauldrons on the wrists, and the hems on the cloth on the arms. The buttons on there show up fine but the trim running on the outside is lost. The trim on the back cloak shows up but is somewhat shallow and it is difficult to properly line even with washes due to this. The metal trim on the legs showed up well enough for the most part but was a little shallow on the shins so I had to paint it in. And the sword completely loses that raised/lowered edge/interior and just looks like a uniform blade.

Now granted this is probably only my 10th or so 3D printed model, and first 28mm sized human print with this sort of detail so it is entirely possible I screwed up somewhere, but I was printing at 0.05mm which is fairly standard for SLA printers as is my understanding.

Otherwise great model but that little ornate stuff could stand to be exaggerated a little more just so it consistently shows up on the model. In regards to actual aesthetics touch ups the backpack could use a little work to incorporate some sort of box with buttons like on the regular SoB packs, or even just the little lines that run over the top of it. You also missed a stud on the halo near the pack.

Would love more SoB STLs like this from you, or even just variant arms and heads for this body.

Image attached in case it helps as an indicator. Please forgive the average paintjob.

At that scale and detail it's not uncommon to print in 0.02. It's going to drastically increase print times but the detail is going to be superb.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I did a 0.02mm print of it last night and finished cleaning and curing it now. Whilst the trim on the shin seems a little more defined than on 0.05mm it is still very shallow and may still not show up well after priming. I am printing the body vertically too so layer height shouldn't matter too much for that area given the orientation. If I was printing with the body horizontal though then sure I could see the layer height mattering since it would be building the trim up from the shin. I still think the trim on the shin at least needs a little more depth to it.

The cloth on the arms seems to have benefited more from 0.02mm though and its trim seems a little more defined which is good. Cloth on the cloak though seems about the same as before, so again would like a little more depth.

However I actually lost detail on the back of the head compared to 0.05mm for some reason. Unfortunately due to the various details on the head it is hard to find a good orientation for it that isn't putting supports on areas that will be visible on the final model. The hair definition seems better than before though.

I'll try priming it tomorrow and see how it ends up.

Thanks for taking the time of printing the model and for posting all the images.

Regarding the model itself: yes some detail may be shallow, but should be easy to fix in the next one; and I made the high heels because of Inquisitor Greyfax (she's supposed to wear Sororitas armor), and her heels are even taller than in my model.

Anyway, with the basic figure modeled it should be relatively easy to change her pose, weapons, and detail. Do you have any specific requests? Or I could even work on an entirely new model (for a different army, maybe).

Would imperial guard calvary be out of the question? Preferably, not a standard horse - maybe a bird-like creature, motorbike, lion or something more fantastic?

This could be fun.
I'll seriously think about it.
Age of Sigmar Stormcasts have quite a few nice mount models (including griffins and lion-like creatures), but I'd rather do entirely new ones than copy them.

If you are looking at doing more SoBs I would love some Superiors since the GW ones only have a few poses so some good 3D printed ones would be a nice alternative. Otherwise I'd be interested to see what you could do for a Hospitaler, Dialogus, or Imagifier.

Yeah superiors might be good. I wouldn't mind a different take on the Repentia either.

if looking for other ideas, how about a eldar exodite on a mount - something like a dinosaur but different and alien?
