I don't think they're getting two shots.

we already have the rulebook, FAQs, points leaked, missions leaked... what, will they change it in the next codex update? I eagerly await the 2 year wait for 2 shot multimeltas.

I'll believe the leaks when I have my printed copies. I'm still not convinced we have everything.

Okey dokey. So Main Rule Book would make MMs 2 shot, then?

Some improvement to the Multimelta in some format that is paid for is what I'm betting on. Of the possible improvements, the one that makes the most sense to me is two shots.

You're using an anecdote for one of the weapons that's actually kinda okay.

I mean, I've faced Land Raiders on and off during the entirety of 8th and neither of my armies has had any real problem dealing with them and I've never felt "Oh god, Land Raiders...how do I deal with these!?".
(Well, my Thousand Sons would probably have troubles if facing 3+ of the damn things, but thats more of a Thousand Sons AT-issue than anything else.)

Call it anecdotal if you will, but your claim that they are "hard to kill" (not your exact words but that was the gist of it) are just about as anecdotal.

If you want them dead they'll die. However my point is that durability is not really their issue, if that makes sense.

They were Small Blast at the beginning of 40k. Making them Blast D3 shots would be a VERY solid improvement.

Agreed. Their issue is that they were easy to shut down.

In the basic godhammer loadout, you were paying for transport you would NEVER use since rushing lascannons upfield to get shut down by a guardsman is terrible. IMO that configuration is still a little silly.

The Redeemer and Crusader patterns are quite interesting headed into 9th edition, especially with the Black Templar strat.

Honestly the assault ramp rule (or assault vehicle rule a la impulsors) would probably make them super spicy in 9th since Terminators have been relatively buffed.

^They weren't a particularly small blast either, 2" Radius. There were blasts ranged from 1, 1.5, 2 and 3 radii. Melta Missile iirc was a 1" Radius.

Believe me, I looked at the list of weapons labeled Blast in anticipation for the Multimelta Because it wasn't there I went with the 2 shots assumption. If we didn't get a list of Blast weapons the MM going Blast would have been my assumption. They could have given us an edited version but that seems like a bit much. Blast Multimeltas would definitely be the coolest update.

I think a perhaps small but seemingly legitimate factor is that for whatever reason, GW thinks it's worth a high price. It stayed high throughout all of 8th, despite the lack of any evidence it was worthwhile with the obvious superiority of plasma. To a degree, regular meltaguns were too, but those have been brought into parity with plasma this time around.
