Subject: Looking for some alternative ideas on models - bat swarms, fell bats, blood knights etc.
Hi all,
Recently jumped back into adding to my old death army and I kind of hit a wall.
Wanted to add more units but I really won’t go anywhere near finecast as I can’t stand it, especially for intricate models.
This has kind of left me at an impasse.
I’m looking for alternatives to the following, my only restrictions are no finecast (metal is fine) and no reaper bones PVC (horrible to work with)
Fell bats - so far the only proxies I’m looking at are aetherwings (not sure if they are big enough) and raptoryx (look a bit too chaos like)
Bat swarms - really tempted to use the ravening direflock endless spells for these as price wise I can live with it and they match up pretty well with death theme.
They would also fit in with the aetherwing fell bats.
Blood knights - This was my biggest issue.
Dragon princes/blades were the go to, but now they cost almost as much as actual bloodknights.
Brettonian knights are also on the price heavy list and also look far too clean for it.
LoTR models are far too small.
Mantic don’t make anything that screams vampire knights to me.
So far, chaos knights are about the only thing I can think of but they seem very bulky in comparison.
I’d even debated the drake spawn knight riders on chaos horses to make them less bulky.
I’ve been hunting through google for ages but it’s really not helped.
The suggestions are always either dragon princes or other companies which no longer exist.
Anyone got any ideas please?

The Blood Dragon rider from the Terrorgheist kit can be found for sale separately on bits sites from time to time and could be placed on a horse if you can find a suitable one. If you're not wedded to the knightly aesthetic GW also used to do mounted necrarchs, lahmians and von carsteins which you could also scout about for on ebay.
