As the title suggests, I would be curios to know if Blood Angels take Centurion devastators in 9th if you just play them as another Chapter/ally? For arguments sake I would say they were an ally from another chapter but I would paint them as Blood Angels. I last played in 7th and am looking to get into 9th but I understand allies are way more flexible these days. I just think they are cool. They wouldnt get any army wide bonuses im sure, but would this kind of thinking be acceptable?

Your paint doesn't affect what rules you use. You can have perfectly lore accurate painted "Blood Angels" and run them with the Vanilla Codex as "Blud Angles" just fine. It's all or nothing though, you can't take any of the BA special units if you do so.

Have three options.
1. You take the Centurions as part of an Auxiliary support detachment for 2CP. They can't have the Blood Angels Keyword nor gain any detachment abilities.
2. Take them as part of another kind of detachment . To do this you would need at least 1 HQ and either one troop or two other heavy support that exists within the Space Marines codex. This requires more models and CP if using Spearhead but the detachment can have detachment abilities.
3. Run the entire army not as "Blood Angels" but as regular Space marines that just look like them. You can't take any Blood Angel Specific models nor gain Blood Angel Special rules/Relics.

4. Wait until October when this all becomes moot because Blood Angels are in the main Marine Codex.

That assumes they won't try some shenanigans with the rules that prevent Blood Angels from taking Centurions.

Agreed. Just because they share a core codex doesn't mean they get everything in that codex.

Black Templars can't take Librarians after all.

It just takes one line "units X, Y, Z cannot be BLOOD ANGELS".
